For most of his career he posed as a female player with the tag '''Emmi Zhang'''. He was also instrumental in creating a ''Smash 64'' Australian Skype group, which helped revitalize the scene. He was recruited by [[TR3G]] and was ranked 1st on the [[Australian Power Rankings]] in 2014. However in the same year he revealed his true identity<ref>{{cite web|url=https://pastebin.com/eQHM83AV|title=Archived chat log of EmmiZhang admitting to be Simon Xu/truetears}}</ref> and players discovered that he used TAS to perform most of his combos, as the ''Smash 64'' scene in Australia was mostly online.
