Harriettheguy was introduced to competitive ''Melee'' in 2006 by a friend of his. He picked up Captain Falcon early on, and later changed to Fox. He practiced many hours to become technically proficient and efficient, including bringing his controller to class in high school to practice under his desk.

The spring following his arrival at UF, ''Brawl'' was released, and Harriettheguy initially played Fox, trying to transfer his Melee play style, but ultimately being unsuccessful. Since then, he has played brawl more casually. His character in Brawl now is Samus, whose slow speed and absurd floatiness provide a different outlet for his creativity.
