He initially began as a {{SSBU|King Dedede}} player, and was considered one of the best King Dedede players during the early metagame, but has since dropped the character. He is currently ranked 4th on the [[British Columbia Power Rankings#Ultimate|British Columbia Ultimate Power Rankings]] and 45th on the [[LumiRank 2023]]; he was also ranked 3rd on the old [[Smash Canada Rankings Ultimate]].

In ''[[SSB4]]'', he was also considered to be one of the best {{SSB4|King Dedede}} players in the world along with ZAKI, though because of the glaring weaknesses of King Dedede, he eventually relegated the character to a secondary in favor of {{SSB4|Mario}} and {{SSB4|Captain Falcon}}. Big D was one of the highest ranked and most consistent player from Vancouver and British Columbia both locally and regionally, having defeated top players such as {{Sm|Larry Lurr}}, {{Sm|Mew2King}}, and {{Sm|Tyrant}}. He is ranked 1st on the [[British Columbia Power Rankings|British Columbia ''Smash 4'' Power Rankings]] and 8th on the [[Canada Smash Ranking]].

During the ''[[Brawl]]'' era, Big D was a {{SSBB|King Dedede}} main. He used to be a member of the Smash Lab, Brawl Backroom and the PMDT before they disbanded.
