SmashLabs was founded by a part of the German Smash Boards community in July, 2014. The increasing popularity of ''[[Melee]]'' and decreasing interest in ''[[Brawl]]'' eventually led to a small group of smashers of the German Smash Boards founding their own community. The website was set up on July 23rd, 2014 and the forums were opened on August 4th.
