In ''Xenoblade Chronicles'', Riki is one of Shulk's party members, being the second last playable character to join the team. He is a resident of Frontier Village, the village of Nopon, and that current year's legendary "Heropon" who was as foretold in prophecy. Due to his position, he is forced into Shulk's party as a matter of helping him and Melia fight the Telethia. However, the Village Elder, [http://xenoblade.wikia.com/wiki/Dunga Dunga], reveals that this position as the Heropon has very little to do with Riki's worth, but was more of a way for Riki to pay off the huge debts he had accrued due to his children's huge appetites.

Riki is a very childish character, much like his appearance. He is very enthusiastic, gets hungry easily, speaks in a largely childish matter and often thanks himself for contributing more than he actually did in any given situation. After the party beats the Telethia in Frontier Village, Riki has very little bearing on the plot at large, and is mostly there for comic relief. However, he does show a knowledgeable side in cutscenes, as he was able to read [http://xenoblade.wikia.com/wiki/Melia Melia's] habit of hiding any signs of weakness to the other party members, and decided to make an excuse to stop and rest once realizing she was tired and not telling them. A conversation in ''Xenoblade Chronicles'' reveals that he is actually 40 years old, and has a wife and eleven children; later on in the game, he is able to relate to [[Dunban]]'s pain of losing his sister [[Fiora]] due to this fact, as he understood the difficulties of taking care of younger family members.

In combat, his fighting style is based on Arts capable of inflicting several negative status conditions to the opponents. In addition, he brings several gimmicky Arts with unique effects to play, along with party buffs that allow him to heal party members, boost stats at random, and more. These factors, along with his surprisingly high hit points (having the highest health pool of Shulk's party members, with [http://xenoblade.wikia.com/wiki/Reyn Reyn] being second), gives him a very good role as a supporting character to make battles easier. Six of his Arts are used in ''Smash 4'' with similar effects as seen in ''Xenoblade Chronicles'', and he can also participate in Shulk's Final Smash, Chain Attack, in a similar way to the [http://xenoblade.wikia.com/wiki/Chain_Attack Chain Attack] mechanic in said game. During the Final Smash, Riki can be seen attacking with his [http://xenoblade.wikia.com/wiki/Biter Biter], a weapon specific to him, and also using a seventh Art, [http://xenoblade.wikia.com/wiki/Lurgy Lurgy].

==Trivia==

*Riki is one of six Assist Trophies to appear in a second capacity within the game he appears, appearing in [[Shulk (SSB4)|Shulk]]'s [[Chain Attack]]. The others are the [[Hammer Bro.]], the [[Starman]], [[Lakitu & Spinies]], the [[Chain Chomp]], and the {{b|Metroid|creature}}, all of which appeared in [[Smash Run]], and the former in the [[Subspace Emissary]].

** Riki is also the only such Assist Trophy to not appear as an enemy in [[Smash Run]].
