Peach leaps up into the air, holding her Parasol above her. At the apex of her jump, she will open the parasol and float down gently. The parasol does damage at all times of the animation, and opponents that touch the top of the parasol are sent upward. It also possesses a large and [[disjointed]] hitbox above Peach that makes the move difficult to intercept from above. Once in the air floating, control is similar to using the [[Parasol]] item. Daisy Parasol functions identically, and the parasol matches Daisy’s color.

While floating, it is possible to move left or right. If down is pressed, Peach will close her umbrella, fall at normal speed, and become [[helpless]]. The move is most likely based on a scene from ''Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars'' where, in order to leave her room without alerting the castle guards, Peach parachutes from her second-story room using a parasol. This parasol can later be used as a weapon. It could also be inspired by the {{s|mariowiki|Parasol Plummet}} minigame from ''Mario Party 3''; similar gameplay mechanics are used, including the ability to freely close and reopen the parasol.

Peach has otherwise been pictured with a parasol since ''{{s|mariowiki|Super Mario Sunshine}}'', released after ''Melee'', where she used her parasol as a parachute in the ending cutscene. She also used a parasol in ''{{s|mariowiki|Yoshi's Island DS}}'' as a baby, ''{{s|mariowiki|Super Princess Peach}}'' (where it was a character named {{s|mariowiki|Perry}}), and ''{{s|mariowiki|Super Paper Mario}}''. Although Daisy has never been seen using a unique parasol like Peach's outside of ''Smash Bros.'', she has a unique color scheme for the {{iw|mariowiki|Peach Parasol|glider}} glider (with the color being identical to that of the parasol she uses in ''Ultimate'') in ''Mario Kart 7'', ''Mario Kart 8'' and ''Mario Kart 8 Deluxe''. She is also playable in ''Mario Party 3'', and therefore can be selected to participate in Parasol Plummet alongside any other character.

*[[Unused content (SSBB)#Gameplay|Unused data in ''Brawl'']] suggests that {{s|mariowiki|Perry}} from ''{{s|mariowiki|Super Princess Peach}}'' was intended to be used as part of Peach's moveset, rather than the parasol from ''Yoshi's Island DS''.
