The '''Nintendo DS''' (sometimes abbreviated '''NDS''' or '''DS''') is a handheld game console developed and manufactured by [[Nintendo]], which was released in November 2004. It is notable for having two screens, one of them being a touch screen (for which a stylus is provided), which many games for the DS make use of.

The Nintendo DS itself is represented in ''[[Super Smash Bros. Brawl]]'' through the [[PictoChat]] stage. ''PictoChat'' is a feature on the Nintendo DS in which players can communicate with each other by writing messages (or drawing doodles) on the touch screen.
In addition, many fans wish to see a ''[[Super Smash Bros. (series)|Super Smash Bros.]]'' game for the Nintendo DS. Although both [[Masahiro Sakurai]] and [[Shigeru Miyamoto]] seemed interested in the idea, they claimed that, for the moment, they were only focusing on ''Brawl''. No statements about a DS ''Super Smash Bros.'' game have been made since ''Brawl''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s completion.
Also, in the one of the backgrounds in the trophy hoard features a black Nintendo DS Lite, much like you could see previous Nintendo consoles in it's prequel.
