NRG Esports (NRG) is a professional esports organization based in Los Angeles, California. The team was founded by Sacramento Kings co-owners Andy Miller and Mark Mastrov in November 2015, with Shaquille O'Neal and Alex Rodriguez joining as investors in March 2016. NRG also owns the Overwatch League franchise San Fransisco Shock, the Vietnamese League of Legends team GAM Esports through their sister company NRG Asia, and formerly had a Call of Duty League franchise called OpTic Chicago.

NRG Esports would get into the Super Smash Bros. competitive scene by signing Nairo on August 23rd, 2016.[1] Amidst Nairo mistakenly admitting to false allegations of having a sexual encounter with a minor, NRG would sever all ties with him on July 2nd, 2020. On April 15th, 2022, NRG came back in the Smash scene with the signing of the content creator and famous commentator EE. They would part ways with EE approximately one year later.
