[[File:Mario CD.jpg|thumb|Mario approaching a [[CD]] in ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl''. Each CD will add a track of music to the player's music collection in the [[Sound Test]] option.]]

The '''music''' of ''[[Super Smash Bros. Brawl]]'' is made up of a very large collection of tracks, surpassing the size of ''[[Super Smash Bros. Melee]]''{{'}}s selection more than three-fold. It is noteworthy as a huge compilation of [[Nintendo]] music, produced by a total of 38 individuals during one of the largest musical gatherings in video game history. Sakurai stated that his group of arrangement supervisors was asked to listen to "an elite selection of Nintendo music" and arrange several of their favorite pieces.
The '''music of Super Smash Bros. Brawl''' is more major and important to the game experience than previous games in the series. Among videogames in general, SSBB's musical setup is noteworthy for being a gigantic compilation of Nintendo music exponentially larger than even the musical selection of ''[[Super Smash Bros. Melee]]''.

For information on the composers, see [[Smash Bros. DOJO!!]]'s list of [http://www.smashbros.com/wii/en_us/music/music01.html credited musicians].
The full list of credited musicians for the game is posted [http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/music/music01.html here] at [[Smash Bros. DOJO!!]], and it numbers at 36 individuals as one of the biggest musical gatherings in gaming history, according to [[Masahiro Sakurai]]. Curiously, ''Final Fantasy'' composer [[Nobuo Uematsu]] is not among the list, even though he is credited for composing the official theme song for the game detailed below. Sakurai has stated that his group of arrangement supervisors were asked to listen to "an elite selection of Nintendo music" and arrange several of their favorite songs, which "means there will be quite a number of songs."

==Sound Test Track List==
As revealed on the site [http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/music/music08.html here], the game will include a feature called [[My Music]]: Each stage in the game will have multiple songs available to be played during battle (over four per stage according to screenshots), and the game will randomly select one of them for when the match starts. The player may adjust the likeliness that each song may play on each stage to his or her preference. Also, occasionally in battle a collectible called a [[CD]] will appear in battle and can be picked up like a [[sticker]] would; this unlocks new music that can be used with any of the stages. Since each stage has many available songs through this system rather than just one or two songs for each stage in ''Melee'', this indicates an immensely larger collection of music in ''Brawl''.
<!--NOTICE: This list is modeled exactly off the list provided in Brawl’s Sound Test feature just like how the other two music pages are structured, which is why some different sections seem like they belong to the same universe.-->
As opposed to the previous installments, where this feature had to be unlocked through various methods, ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl'' features the Sound Test option from the very start of the game, and this mode specifically lists the source game of each piece and its credits. This is the full track list as ordered and arranged in the Music portion of ''Brawl''’s Sound Test menu.

These 258 pieces do not include musical short pieces found in the Sound Effects [https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8XhI5iAtuWpOBHuNqOEqduENXbJMVOHB], such as characters' post-battle victory themes. Even so, ''Brawl'' contains a few pieces that do not appear in Sound Test, as either Music or Sound Effects. These include the piano-led theme [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zUu-CDutag] that plays on the Game Clear! screen of Classic Mode, the music box track [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTr9g2PvXWg] that plays as the trophy falls at the end of Classic Mode or All-Star Mode, the fall/winter variation of the "Obstacle Course" track [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmGP0doINOk] (that plays only on the {{SSBB|Yoshi's Island}} stage), the six Saturday night tracks in [[Smashville]], the ambiance track [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pg0Ehx0P1vk] used for [[Hanenbow]], and strangely, the Cruel Brawl theme. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5jor35wnaM] The theme used in the [[How to Play]] video [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u50HmHK-djM] also does not appear despite being a completely new remix of the one used in ''Melee''.
From time to time, DOJO!! will post a piece of music from the game as one of its updates to the site.

Many of these tracks must be unlocked. Some of them are unlocked by beating certain game challenges, whereas many others are collected by simply grabbing random CDs. A [[CD Factory]] can make CD collection much more efficient.
==Main Theme==
The [http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/music/music10.html Main Theme] song was revealed along with the game itself at the game's first trailer in E3 2006. In this initial appearance it is a thundering orchestra with vocals sung in Latin. It was composed by famed ''Final Fantasy'' series composer Nobuo Uematsu, and its lyrics were supervised by Sakurai himself. In September 7, 2007, it was reposted on DOJO!! as part of a string of music-related updates.

==''[[Super Smash Bros. Brawl]]''==
A synthesized remix of the track without vocals was heard in the game's second trailer at Nintendo World 2006. Some believe this version may be menu screen music for the game. In the 15-second mini-trailer posted on Dojo on July 12th, 2007, a short remix of the main theme is also played.

==Dojo!! music updates==
{{Main|List of SSBB Music (Super Smash Bros. series)}}
From time to time, Dojo!! will post a piece of music from the game as one of its updates to the site, allowing viewers to get veritable audio previews for the game.
Specifically, this section of the Sound Test is almost entirely dedicated to tracks that return from ''[[Super Smash Bros. Melee]]'', with one exception being a track returning from ''[[Super Smash Bros.]]'', in spite of the section's title simply being "Super Smash Bros." Also see [[Music (SSBM)]] and [[Music (SSB)]] for more information.

The composition and arrangement of the following tracks are copyright Nintendo, and other entities as noted, unless distinguished with the word '''only'''.
*'''[http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/music/music01.html The Musicians]''': Along with revealing the game's musician list, this update to Dojo!! reveals a revised version of ''[[Super Smash Bros. Melee]]''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s Menu 1 theme, which is stated to be used as the music for the [[Battlefield (SSBB)]] stage.
{| class="wikitable" width=100%
*'''[http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/music/music02.html Yoshi's Story: Ending]''': This is a remix of an ending sequence in the [[Nintendo 64]] game ''[[Yoshi's Story]]'', and the music will be featured in the game, probably as the music for the [[Yoshi's Story (SSBB)|Yoshi's Island]] stage in ''Brawl''.
|-
*'''[http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/music/music03.html Metroid: Boss Battle Music (Ridley Fight)]''': This is a short but intense remix of the most common boss battle theme heard throughout the ''[[Metroid (universe)|Metroid]]'' series. The site specifically connects this to [[Ridley]], raising rumors as to whether Ridley will be a playable character, or more of a "background character" like [[Kraid]] was in Melee.
! width=40% | Title
*'''[http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/music/music04.html The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Medley]''': This is a medley of various songs heard in ''[[the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time]]'', and the ones heard in the incomplete clip provided are, in order, the "Song of Storms", "Epona's Song", "Song of Time", "[[Saria's Song]]", and "Zelda's Lullaby", all of which Link can play on the eponymous Ocarina in the N64 game. This medley might play in the [[Bridge of Eldin]] stage.
! width=10% | Link
*'''[http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/music/music05.html Star Fox: Space Armada]''': This is a remix of, what Sakurai claims, to be part of the music from the [[Corneria]] stage in ''[[Super Smash Bros. Melee]]''. Sakurai notes the intensity of the music, as it conveys the atmosphere of an epic showdown.
! width=50% | Notes
*'''[http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/music/music06.html Kid Icarus: The Underworld]''': An orchestrated medley of music from ''[[Kid Icarus]]'', beginning with one verse of the title screen jingle, then proceeding with the first stage theme from the game, ending with the high-pitched theme heard when Pit is spotted by a Grim Reaper enemy followed by the game over jingle. It is heard in the ''Pit<nowiki>'</nowiki>s Descent'' trailer on the official site, which is a video of an ingame cutscene. It is unknown if it is played elsewhere.
|-
*'''[http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/music/music07.html Animal Crossing: Go K.K. Rider!]''': A remix of ''Go K.K. Rider!'', one of the songs played by [[K.K. Slider]] in [[Animal Crossing (universe)|Animal Crossing]] games. It will be played on the [[Smashville]] stage.
| '''Menu (Super Smash Bros. Melee)'''
*'''[http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/music/music08.html My Music]''': Although this update brings no music in itself, it describes the [[My Music]] feature and reveals the titles of eight new songs.
| [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3trr_dO3VBo]
*'''[http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/music/music09.html Pokémon: Pokémon Gym/Evolution]''': A remix of the "Pokémon Gym" theme, accompanied by the "Evolution" theme from the Pokémon series of games. It is known to play at the [[Pokémon Stadium 2]] stage.
| <small>Arrangement: Motoi Sakuraba <br>Composer: HAL Laboratory, Inc. <br>Original Composer: Hirokazu Andō, Tadashi Ikegami, [[Shōgo Sakai]]</small>
*'''[http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/music/music10.html Super Smash Bros. Brawl: Main Theme]''': Simply a repost of the game's theme song from the preview site.
|-
*'''[http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/music/music11.html Metal Gear Solid: MGS4 Love Theme (Smash Bros. Brawl Version)]''': A version of the Love Theme from the upcoming Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots made for Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The arrangement was handled by staff from Konami's Metal Gear sound team.
| '''Credits (Super Smash Bros.)'''
*'''[http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/music/music12.html WarioWare: Ashley's Theme]''': A music file which is a fully vocalized version of the theme song for the young witch character [[Ashley]] in ''[[WarioWare: Touched!]]''. This is most likely one of the songs for the WarioWare stage. This song has different-language vocals for the different-language versions of the game.

{{Main|List of SSBB Music (Animal Crossing series)}}
Note that these tracks are the ones available for [[Smashville]] through My Music; however, if one brawls on that stage from 8:00pm to midnight on a Saturday night, the track will instead be selected randomly from the following: K.K. Cruisin' [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4HHibiL0Yc], K.K. Condor [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUiXsEJ3NSk], K.K. Western [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5a3uQg9HZWk], K.K. Gumbo [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDZ5lgINouQ], Rockin' K.K. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-98LFPTjlwA] and DJ K.K. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mehpJcpEUI]  All of these are ripped directly from the Animal Crossing games, when K.K. Slider played his tracks at the aforementioned time in front of train station and inside The Roost in ''[[Animal Crossing]]'' and ''[[Animal Crossing: Wild World]]'' respectively. The rips in ''Brawl'' are the tracks from his live performances, not the CD versions, which are different arrangements.
These tracks cannot be accessed in the [[Sound Test]], likely as an incentive to make players utilise this easter egg.

==Removed tracks==
A number of empty, normally inaccessible music files exist in the code for ''Brawl'' and have been discovered by hacking. It is mostly believed that these are tracks that were intended to be used in-game but were removed at some point in development. Note that as the music files themselves do not play any actual sound, the specific identity of the tracks is not always clear.[http://www.smashboards.com/showpost.php?p=10920499&postcount=133]
{| class="wikitable" width=100%
|-
! File Title in ''Brawl''{{'}}s code

! Track Identity Theories
|-
|snd_bgm_A11_MLRPG02
|''Mario''
|Unknown track assumed to be from ''{{s|mariowiki|Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time}}'' (titled ''Mario & Luigi RPG 2×2'' in Japanese).
|-
|snd_bgm_A12_MORINOKINOKO
|''Mario''
|Japanese translates to "Forest's Mushrooms"; due to its position in the list, which follows a general chronological trend, it is possible this track was the theme for {{s|mariowiki|Toadwood Forest}}, also from ''Partners in Time''. The title is also similar to "Beware the Forest's Mushrooms", a piece of music from the Square-developed game ''{{s|mariowiki|Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars}}'', but it is unlikely to be this track due to Nintendo and Square Enix not collaborating at the time, and due to the chronological order placing it closer to tracks from ''Partners in Time''.
|-
|snd_bgm_C06_KAZENOSAKANA
|''The Legend of Zelda''
|Japanese translates to "{{s|zeldawiki|Ballad of the Wind Fish}}", a notable track from ''{{s|zeldawiki|The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening}}'', as well as an unrelated track from ''{{s|zeldawiki|The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask}}''. Because it is placed before "Tal Tal Heights", also from ''Link's Awakening'', it is assumed to be from the former game.
|-
|snd_bgm_E04_COCKIE<!--This is Engrish, not a profanity.-->
|''Yoshi''
|Unknown track assumed to be from ''{{s|mariowiki|Yoshi's Cookie}}''.
|-
|snd_bgm_G06_COMMAND
|''Star Fox''
|Unknown track assumed to be from ''{{s|lylatwiki|Star Fox: Command}}''.
|-
|snd_bgm_J01_STAGECHANGE
|''Fire Emblem''
|Assumed to be used for the stage transitions for [[Castle Siege]]. Others assume that it may have been a stage transition theme from a ''Fire Emblem'' series game, similar to "[[Preparing to Advance]]".
|-
|snd_bgm_J05_ERABARESHI
|''Fire Emblem''
|Assumed to be a shortened form of the Japanese "Erabareshimono-tachi" (選ばれし者達), which translates to "The Chosen Ones", a track from ''[[fireemblemwiki:Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem|Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem]]''.
|-
|snd_bgm_K02_SENTOUONIISAN
|''Mother''
|"Sentouonii-san" is the Japanese name for the {{s|wikibound|New Age Retro Hippie}}, an enemy from ''{{s|wikibound|EarthBound}}'' whose battle theme is similar to one from ''[[wikibound:Mother (video game)|Mother]]'', where a [[wikibound:The Hippie|similar enemy]] also appeared.
|-
|snd_bgm_K03_EIGHTMELODIES
|''Mother''
|"{{s|wikibound|Eight Melodies}}", a term describing two different tracks: one from ''Mother'' and one from ''EarthBound''.
|-
|snd_bgm_K04_SMILEANDTEARS
|''Mother''
|"{{s|wikibound|Smiles and Tears}}", the ending theme from ''EarthBound'', which is based on the game's "Eight Melodies". This song would later be remixed for ''[[Music (SSB4)|Super Smash Bros. 4]]''.
|-
|snd_bgm_K06_BECAUSE
|''Mother''
|Assumed to be "Because I Love You", a track from ''EarthBound''. Notably, this song is the basis of "Fourside" from ''Melee'', which is absent from this game.
|-
|snd_bgm_M14_WARIOSTAGE
|''Wario''
|Track of unclear origin in the ''Wario'' universe. It is placed between two of [[WarioWare, Inc.]]'s microgame themes.
|-
|snd_bgm_N04_RADIOTAISO
|''Animal Crossing''
|The Japanese "Radio Taisō" translates to "Radio Exercises," a track from ''[[nookipedia:Animal Crossing (GCN)|Animal Crossing]]''.
|-
|snd_bgm_Q03_SPORTSMEDLEY
|NES/GameBoy tracks
|Assumed to be a medley of tracks from the generic sports titles on the NES, such as ''[[wikipedia:Soccer (1985 video game)|Soccer]]''.
|-
|snd_bgm_R01_WILDTRACKS
|Miscellaneous tracks
|Japanese name for the game ''Stunt Race FX''; assumed to be a track from that game.
|-
|snd_bgm_S01_MAINTHEME
|''Metal Gear''
|Assumed to be the main theme of a ''Metal Gear'' game; as it is placed before "Encounter" from ''Metal Gear Solid'', it is most likely the main theme of that game. Likely not included due to plagiarism accusations related to the theme.<ref>https://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=21513</ref>
|-
|snd_bgm_S09_BEATMANIA
|''Metal Gear''
|Assumed to be [https://remywiki.com/METAL_GEAR_SOLID_Main_Theme the remix] of the ''Metal Gear Solid'' main theme from ''{{s|wikipedia|Beatmania}}''. Likely not included for the same reason as the above track.
|-
|snd_bgm_T04_HOWTOPLAY
|''Super Smash Bros.''
|Assumed to be the "How to Play" [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u50HmHK-djM theme] that is found in Brawl. It is a new remix of the "How to Play" theme from ''Melee''. Since the theme seems to be embedded into that video, this music file could be the spot for it separately. That, or its the "How to Play" theme from ''Melee'' which it is based on.
|-
|snd_bgm_U05_UCANDO
|''Sonic the Hedgehog''
|Assumed to be "Sonic - You Can Do Anything", a track from non-North American releases of ''Sonic CD'' (which used "Sonic Boom" instead).
|-
|snd_bgm_W22_DX55
|''Super Smash Bros.''
|A removed track from ''Super Smash Bros. Melee'' -- the 55 may suggest that it was a rip of the ''Melee'' version of "Menu 2," track #55 in that game's Sound Test. Another hypothesis is that it was to be one of the other tracks from ''Melee'' to not be present in ''Brawl'', such as "Fourside" or "Yoshi's Story".
|-
|snd_bgm_W32_DX81
|''Super Smash Bros.''
|Assumed to be another removed track from ''Melee''. It is unclear what the track was specifically meant to be, as ''Melee''{{'}}s sound test only has 80 tracks.
|-
|snd_bgm_X12_SIMPLEINTRO
|''Super Smash Bros.''
|Assumed to be used in the intros for {{SSBB|Classic Mode}}.
|-
|snd_bgm_X14_ENDING
|''Super Smash Bros.''
|Assumed to be used in the endings for Classic Mode.
|-
|snd_bgm_X24_HOW2PLAY
|''Super Smash Bros.''
|Assumed to be another "How to Play" music track.

===Scrapped Adventure Mode music===
The following unused tracks were also found in the data, intended for use in the Subspace Emissary:

*snd_bgm_Y28_ADV28
*snd_bgm_Y29_ADV29
*snd_bgm_Y30_ADV30
It is unknown if they were meant to be used as background music, or as fanfares.
===Scrapped victory themes===
Various [[victory theme]]s that specifically attribute to one character were also found, suggesting that characters were supposed to have their own victory theme independent of their series. In the final product, only {{SSBB|Meta Knight}} has a different fanfare than other characters of [[Kirby (universe)|his universe]].
Of note is that two of these unused fanfares, snd_bgm_Z38_FMYU2 and snd_bgm_Z39_FROY, refer to two unused character files in the game. "MYU2" is for Mewtwo, and "ROY" refers to Roy. In addition, {{SSBB|Wolf}} does not have one of these files.
The files are as follows:
*snd_bgm_Z09_FLUIGI
*snd_bgm_Z12_FKUOPA
*snd_bgm_Z13_FPEACH
*snd_bgm_Z14_FZELDA
*snd_bgm_Z15_FSHEIK

*snd_bgm_Z37_FPURIN
*snd_bgm_Z38_FMYU2
*snd_bgm_Z39_FROY
*snd_bgm_Z41_FTOONLINK
Along with these, there are two other unused fanfares, snd_bgm_Z52_JCLEAR1 and snd_bgm_Z53_JCLEAR2; their intended use is unknown, though they may have been themes for clearing a level.
