'''Miles Prower''' ({{ja|マイルス・パウアー|Mairusu Pauā}}, ''Miles Prower''), better known by his nickname '''Tails''' ({{ja|テイルス|Teirusu}}, ''Tails''), is a character from the {{uv|Sonic the Hedgehog}} series.

Tails first appeared in the 8-bit version of ''Sonic the Hedgehog 2'' for the Sega Master System and Sega Game Gear, in which Tails has been kidnapped by {{iw|wikipedia|Dr. Eggman}} and must be rescued by Sonic. He made his proper playable debut in the 16-bit version, and since then has become one of the main characters of the ''Sonic'' series. He is Sonic's most trusted sidekick and has the ability to fly with his two tails, hence his nickname. Despite his young age, he is a mechanical genius, matching smarts with Dr. Eggman himself, having created various revisions and remodels to the Tornado, a plane originally made by Sonic. He looks up to Sonic as a brother figure and has appeared in many games, including three of his own: ''Tails Adventure'', an exploration-based platformer with RPG elements and a slow-paced style of gameplay compared to the majority of the ''Sonic'' franchise; ''Tails and the Music Maker'', an edutainment game for the Sega Pico designed to teach young children about musical instruments; and ''Tails' Skypatrol'', an originally Japan-exclusive auto-scrolling game with an original cast of characters.

Tails, along with [[Knuckles the Echidna]] and [[Silver the Hedgehog]], appear in the background of [[Green Hill Zone]].

Tails is also the base of a paid [[downloadable content|downloadable]] costume for [[Mii Gunner]]s, released in February 2016 as part of the last wave.

Tails once again reprises his role as a background character on [[Green Hill Zone]] with Knuckles the Echidna and Silver the Hedgehog.

 

The Tails {{SSBU|Mii Gunner}} costume from the previous game was not in the base game, but was re-added as [[DLC]] on April 17th, 2019.

Tails also appears as an Ace-class [[support spirit]]. He can be [[summon]]ed using the cores of {{h2|List of spirits (Others)|Andy}}, {{h2|List of spirits (Pokémon series)|Vulpix}}, and a support type.

 

In [[Adventure Mode: World of Light]], Tails is presumably one of the countless spirits captured by [[Galeem]] during his takeover of the universe. After Galeem's defeat, [[Dharkon]] takes control of Galeem's spirits, including Tails. After Dharkon's defeat, he flees to the final world, with Galeem following soon after. In the final world, Galeem and Dharkon wage war against each other using their captured spirits, with Galeem taking control of Tails.

 

Tails's Spirit Battle uses a {{SSBU|Fox}} puppet fighter starting off with an enhanced [[Ray Gun]], referencing Tails' affinity for gadgets, and is fought on the [[Windy Hill Zone]] stage. During the battle, Fox also starts off with a Rocket Belt and gravity is reduced, referencing Tails' ability to fly using his twin tails. Also, Knuckles appears as a hostile Assist Trophy, referencing how Tails and Knuckles are two of Sonic's most trusted friends and allies.
