Tails appears once again in the background of [[Green Hill Zone]]. He is also the base of a paid [[downloadable content|downloadable]] costume for [[Mii Gunner]]s, released in February 2016 as part of the last wave.

Tails first appeared in the 8-bit version of ''Sonic the Hedgehog 2'' for the Sega Master System and Sega Game Gear, and is one of the main characters of the ''Sonic'' series. He is Sonic's most trusted sidekick and has the ability to fly with his two tails, hence his nickname. Despite his young age, he is a mechanical genius, matching smarts with [[Dr. Eggman]] himself, having created the combat plane known as the Tornado, which has received numerous revisions to adapt to various conditions and situations. He looks up to Sonic as a brother figure and has appeared in many games, including three of his own, ''Tails Adventure'', ''Tails and the Music Maker'' and ''Tails Skypatrol''.
