'''Hokkaidō''' is a ''Smash'' region, a prefecture, and the second largest island in Japan. The prefecture's capital is Sapporo. As it is both the northernmost prefecture and separated by the Tsugaru Strait the region is relatively isolated from the rest of the country. 

Sapporo hosts many of the regions top players and the majority of the tournaments including the long-running {{Trn|Hokkaido Smash Tournament}} (HST) series and the {{Trn|Kyokkan}} series. Many of the top players in region also play online. 

The region greatest success has been in [[Super Smash Bros. 64]]. {{Sm|Amasawa}} was one of the best Japanese players in the early metagame despite using a {{SSB|Donkey Kong}}, a low tier character. {{Sm|Jouske}} also achieved considerable success having won several Japanese [[nationals]] and was considered one of Japan's strongest players before retirement.
