Glire's name is a combination of the words ''glare'', referring to its wide open eyes, and ''fire'', referring to its fiery attack.

==In ''[[Super Smash Bros. Brawl]]''==
Glires debuted in ''Brawl'''s ''Subspace Emissary''. They are wheel-like enemies with a central eye. They move around by rolling on floors, walls, and ceilings, although they will fall down if they [[flinch]]. When a player approaches it, a Glire will pause, open up, and spew fire out of its body. This attack only hits once, so shielding it allows a large [[lag]] time in which to attack. Like flame [[Jyk]]s, Glires appear in caverns and ruins.

|desc-ntsc=This rotating enemy will follow the terrain. The red one is called Glire. Should a fighter come too close, a blast of fire will erupt from Glire, damaging nearby foes. Glire has high stamina compared to [[Glice]] and [[Glunder]], but it's very slow. It's especially vulnerable to ice attacks!
|desc-pal=If you get too close to a Glire, it'll stop, open its shell and unleash a fire attack. They deal more damage than Glunders and Glices, but they're also slower. You won't get a lot of stat boosts for defeating one, so just make life easy for yourself and exploit their weakness to ice attacks when you're taking them on.
