Giratina (ギラティナ, Giratina) is a fictional creature from the Pokémon series. It has two formes, Altered Forme and Origin Forme, and can change formes by holding the Griseous Orb. Giratina in its Altered Forme appears in Super Smash Bros. 4 as a Master Ball summon. When summoned, it attacks the opposing fighters with a large purple-white beam of energy that hits foes in a similar fashion to Zero Laser, dealing 2% per hit. Hitting Giratina's body will do 12% damage with weak diagonal knockback.

Origin
Origin
Giratina is a Ghost/Dragon-type bulbapedia introduced in Generation IV, and is a member of the bulbapedia of Sinnoh along with Dialga and Palkia. It is the bulbapedia of bulbapedia, and is categorized within the Pokédex at #487 as the "Renegade Pokémon". Giratina represents antimatter, and lives in the bulbapedia. It has two bulbapedias: the Origin Forme, which it can assume only in the Distortion World or when holding a bulbapedia (Platinum to bulbapedia) or bulbapedia (bulbapedia onwards), and the Altered Forme, under which it appears in Super Smash Bros. 4. In Pokémon Platinum, it takes the role held by Dialga/Palkia in Pokémon Diamond/Pearl respectively: bulbapedia attempts to use its power to recreate the universe with bulbapedia as a ruler; after defeating Cyrus in the Distortion World the player has a chance to catch Giratina.

Giratina is a Ghost/Dragon-type Pokémon (#487 in the National Pokédex) that was introduced in Generation IV, and is a member of the Creation Trio of Sinnoh along with Dialga and Palkia. Giratina represents antimatter, and lives in the bulbapedia. Its signature move is Shadow Force, a two-turn Ghost-type move that gives it semi-invulnerability and bypasses Protect. Giratina is capable of learning Dragon Breath via Move Reminder.

bulbapedia is a Dragon-type Special move with 60 base power and 100% accuracy which has a 30% chance of inflicting the Paralysis status on the target. Giratina knows this move by default at level 1.

As a Poké Ball Pokémon
Giratina's Altered Forme appears in Super Smash Bros. 4 as a Poké Ball and Master Ball summon. When summoned it attacks three times, breathing out a large vortex which damages enemies for 2% while carrying them away, similarly to Mario Finale. It can turn around before attacking if no enemies are in front of it. Touching Giratina's body deals 12% damage with weak diagonal knockback.

As a Poké Ball Pokémon
Giratina returns as a Poké Ball summon.

Giratina cannot be summoned on Balloon Fight, Brinstar, Corneria, Dream Land GB, Golden Plains, Green Hill Zone, Jungle Japes, Living Room, Mute City SNES, Reset Bomb Forest, Suzaku Castle, Tomodachi Life, Tortimer Island, Inc., or Yoshi's Island.

Spirits
Giratina appears as two primary spirits.

Giratina (Altered Forme)'s Spirit Battle uses a Giant Mr. Game & Watch puppet fighter and is fought on the Spear Pillar stage. During the battle, Giratina is summoned while the screen flips upside down, referencing the bulbapedia, an alternate dimension that disobeys the laws of physics, and accessible only in Pokémon Platinum.

Giratina (Origin Forme) can be obtained by enhancing the Giratina (Altered Forme) spirit at level 99.

Trivia
*Giratina is the first Ghost type to come out of a Poké Ball.
*There is a bug in the Giratina Spirit Battle which results in the screen not flipping, despite being one of the battle conditions.
*Giratina's roar is actually based on that of Mothra's. However, due to copyright reasons, its roar is not among the game's sound clips.
