#Growing up, I would constantly go to my friend's house to play Melee. My friend lacked a memory card for his GameCube, and thus it was impossible to save any unlocked characters. A visit to my cousin one day enlightened me to the full extent of the Melee cast. Imagine my surprise to see Mewtwo! I COULD PLAY AS MEWTWO! I still remember my first encounter with Mewtwo in my first Pokemon game. #I've never been a huge fan of retro stages. However, I am a huge fan of taking old, retro settings from games and remaking them in higher quality, and Magicant is a perfect candidate for this. It is aesthetically unique compared to almost every stage in smash with it's heavy amount of pink, and I love all of the Earthbound references. I like most of the hazards on this stage, but I understand that the flying men can be quite annoying. I can't wait to play on this stage in Ultimate, it's already looking stunning. I think both stages are about equal in functionality when weighing strengths and weaknesses, but Magicant wins out for me not only because it's absolutely breathtaking, especially in Ultimate, but because of the rampant references to Mother 1 and 2. As anyone who has followed my edits knows (which I expect to be a grand total of zero), origins really really matter to me, so to see a stage crafted with such love for the source material just amazes me. Mushroom Kingdom II is no slouch either, but I'd argue it's slightly worse since almost all of its assets are just straight-up taken from All-Stars while Magicant uses mostly original models and animations. Sure it also takes things directly from both of the Mother games it appears in, but uses them sparingly and mostly just for a few cool call-backs in the background. I think it says a lot when I've never been a huge Mother fan and yet the love for the series put into this stage blows me away.
