Hmmmm... I wanted to try if a Bumper can be used for recovery by throw it near the blast line and hit it when I dropped, but my Wii is under repair! :I didn't actually test this yet, but I think characters can only bounce to the side or downwards, even when you hit a bumper from the top. So, you can only use a bumper for horizontal recovery and not vertical. Hope this clears things up.
