It's still tied to them, just not as directly. That said, it does make sense to implement a template for it.

In that case, what's the point of having the smash attack and Aura damage templates either if they can also be calculated? More points in favor, actually. (That's what we would end up doing for the 1v1 multiplier, I know, but to repeat myself, it's the only multiplier out of these that also affects indirect damage sources.)
