Final Destination ({{ja|終点 | Final Destination (終点 "Endpoint"), also referred to as Master Hand's Residence, is a stage in Super Smash Bros. exclusive to its 1P Game and thus, unlike its successors' Final Destination stages, isn't normally playable in Versus Mode. This stage was featured as the final level of 1P Mode, where the player fights Master Hand. Like its successors in Melee, Brawl, and SSB4, this stage is completely flat. The platform's central design is a yellow, temple like structure. When played in 1P Game, interestingly, the background changes depending on Master Hand's HP. The background starts out in space with stars visible, then changes into a cloudy area when HP is depleted to 210, then to a wormhole at 120 HP, and finally the wormhole drastically accelerates when HP is depleted to 30. If the stage is hacked to act like Versus Mode, then the background will change depending on how much damage player 1 has taken, this means that when player 1 takes 90% damage, the background changes to the clouds, and if player 1 is KO'd, and thus, reset to 0% damage, the background doesn't change back to the stars; it just stays as it was when player 1 was KO'd. If player 1 takes 90% damage again, the background won't change to the wormhole, as the background is set to change when the character reaches a certain point of damage. If Final Destination is loaded in Vs. mode, then the background won't change, it will just stay at the first background without shooting stars. The reason for this is that the fix code needs to load a featureless level's index (it uses Battlefield's index) when the actual level index is Final Destination's level to have the stage not crash.

The player is transported to this stage after defeating the Fighting Polygon Team in the 1P Game. It is not accessible in Vs. Mode, though it can be accessed with cheating devices. Formally, one needed to enable the code that makes this stage the only one fought in 1P Game, as the game will freeze if it is accessed normally through the debug menu, or with a code to load this stage on the Vs. mode stage select menu. Normally there can only be 2 players fighting on it at once, as the stage is only designed for the player's character and Master Hand to be used simultaneously upon it. There are cheats however where it mods the 1P mode to only play this stage and act like VS. mode, which is started up by choosing 1P mode. The game will show that the player is entering the first stage, but starts the match on Final Destination. By using more cheats, it allowed up to 4 players and using a stock modifier, the amount of lives can be set for everyone. The player could use a character modifier cheat to choose the opponent's characters and their own. If the character modifier cheat was off, for Player 1 it started as the character the player chooses on the select screen, Player 2 was Link, and if Player 3 and 4 were included without a chosen character, it crashed the game. After the match, if Player 1 won, it showed the 1P results screen. If another player won, the game would go to the continue screen. This property is unique to Final Destination among all of the stages in Super Smash Bros., even including its other hacked stages due to it actually being in 1P mode. However, recently there was a hack released that included a fix code, and allowed the stage to be accessed "genuinely" in Vs. mode, however for unknown reasons, player 1 will be Master Hand, unless they use the player 1 character modifier code. Also the level uses the Master Hand intro music by default for this level, but the fix code makes the level load the Master Hand battle music instead. Not many people know about this, so most people still use the old way.
== | ==Nomenclature== | ||
Final Destination | The name "Final Destination" is retroactively applied to this stage, as redesigns of this stage that have appeared in later games in the series share that name. This stage's official Japanese name, 終点 Shūten, is also shared with the Japanese name of all other incarnations of Final Destination, so it can be inferred that this stage's official English name is indeed "Final Destination".
