'''Event 48: Pikachu and Pichu''' is an [[Event Match]] from [[Super Smash Bros. Melee]].  In this Event Match, you may choose any character and have 2 stock. You're against 2 [[Pichu]] with 1 stock and a [[Pikachu]] with infinite stock. You must KO the Pichus. The stage is [[Dream Land]], making it the only Melee event match set on a [[Past Stages|past stage]].


The player controls a fighter of their choice and must win a [[stock]] match against two CPU {{SSBM|Pichu}} and a CPU {{SSBM|Pikachu}} on the [[Dream Land]] stage, where the player starts with 2 stocks, the Pichu start with 1 stock, and Pikachu starts with infinite stocks. This event match features no time limit. The red and green CPU Pichu's [[artificial intelligence]] is each set at Level 5 and 6 (in addition to both of them taking 0.8x knockback; about as much knockback taken as {{SSBM|Captain Falcon}} and {{SSBM|Link}}, two heavyweights), while the CPU Pikachu's artificial intelligence is set at Level 9, while also giving 1.24x knockback (For example, Pikachu's neutral aerial can KO {{SSBM|Mario}} about 40% earlier from center stage).
The title of this Event Match refers to the Pokémon short ''Pikachu and Pichu''. Also in the short there are two Pichus and one Pikachu.


When this match starts, the player's fighter will spawn on the center of the main platform, while the red Pichu spawns on the rightmost soft platform, the green Pichu spawns on the top soft platform, and Pikachu spawns on the leftmost soft platform. The Pichu do not actively attack the player unless they are approached, while Pikachu attacks the player's fighter. If one Pichu is [[KO]]'d, the other Pichu will attack the player's fighter. If the player's fighter KOs both Pichu, it will result in a victory.  
==Strategies==
The Pikachu is very aggresive and will attack immediately. The Pichus however, will rather flee than fight. However, if they have an open opportunity, they will attack, usually with [[Thunder]].

Use DK's forward throw on the Pichus and drop off the edge while carrying them. The last one should try to be thrown so they die first.
**Unlocking the Dream Land stage is not required to unlock this event match, whereas the stage itself must be unlocked by completing the [[Target Smash!#Target Test (Super Smash Bros. Melee)|Target Test]] with all 25 fighters.

Set up the two Pichus in a way such that they will fall right onto Jigglypuff's Rest immediately, and they should both die quickly.
 
Well, when I (Jacob Chang) was Mario in Event: 48- Pikachu and Pichu, I said to Pikachu(who is infinite in this event) and told her "Pikachu is infinite and I will kick her on the stomach". Then I said "I have 2 turns in all" (because your stock is "2" and Pichu 1 and Pichu 2 have stock: 1 each). Then I told Pikachu (who kept interfering when I tried to knock Pichu out) and so I told Pikachu "I- Mario will kick you right
on the stomach, Pikachu".
