The '''Creeper''' ({{ja|クリーパー|Kurīpā}}, ''Creeper'') is a hostile mob found in ''{{s|wikipedia|Minecraft}}''. It is one of the game's mascots, appearing in its logo, and one of its most iconic design aspects.

==Origin==

The Creeper is a hostile mob in ''Minecraft'' and spawns in the Overworld when the light level is 0. The Creeper was accidentally created when the model for a [[Pig]] had its body's height and length mistakenly flipped, resulting in a distinctive four-legged creature with a long torso and no arms. When it notices a [[Steve|player]], the Creeper will move towards it and will start a detonation process when close enough, causing an explosion if the player stays within its line of sight and doesn't kill it in time, creating a small crater; the explosions are one of the most damaging attacks in the game and can potentially kill the player; it also causes significant damage to any nearby structures, such as player-made housing. The Creeper can also explode when the player ignites the Creeper with flint and steel. When hit by lightning, the Creeper becomes charged and deals even more damage with a larger explosion radius, potentially killing the player even with full diamond armor.

Killing a Creeper accrues 5 EXP orbs, and it may drop up to two pieces of gunpowder, as well as a random music disc if it is killed by a Skeleton or a Stray. While they usually creep up behind players (hence the name), they can be identified by the distinctive hissing sound they make right before they detonate.

Several Creepers appear in [[House of Boom]], heading towards the victim before exploding. Their explosions combined with the TNT laying around seems to be what causes the titular "boom". Additionally, a Creeper is seen in one of {{SSBU|Steve}}'s victory poses, where it explodes before Steve lands.

A Creeper appears in {{h2|Downloadable content (SSBU)|Round 7}} of DLC as a paid {{SSBU|Mii Brawler}} costume. To match the Mii Brawler's model, the Creeper is given a more humanoid appearance with distinct arms and legs. The Creeper performs several [[Sacrificial KO]]s throughout the video, referencing the Creeper's attack method of detonating itself. At the end of its costume presentation, it can be seen standing next to a lightning bolt, a reference to it being struck by lightning to turn it into a [https://minecraft.wiki/w/Charged_Creeper charged creeper].

The Creeper also appears as an Advanced-class [[primary spirit]] in the ''Minecraft'' DLC Spirit Board.

The Creeper uses an army of {{SSBU|Mr. Game & Watch}} puppet fighters and is fought on the [[Minecraft World]] stage. If the player has already purchased the Creeper DLC costume, the Creeper uses an army of Mii Brawler puppet fighters wearing the Creeper Mask and Outfit instead. During the battle, the army starts off with a [[Bomber]], referencing the Creeper's ability to explode.
