As the playable {{s|fireemblemwiki|avatar}} in ''{{s|fireemblemwiki|Fire Emblem Fates}}'', Corrin is created by the player and can be customized in a variety of ways, including name, appearance, and gender. Corrin is also the main protagonist of ''Fates'', and seeks to stop the conflict between their surrogate home of {{iw|fireemblemwiki|Nohr}} and their birthplace of {{iw|fireemblemwiki|Hoshido}}.

Corrin debuted in the ''{{b|Super Smash Bros.|series}}'' series as a playable character in ''[[Super Smash Bros. 4]]'' via [[downloadable content]], and returns as an unlockable character in ''[[Super Smash Bros. Ultimate]]''.

==Origin==
Like [[fireemblemwiki:Tactician (Blazing Sword)|Mark]] in ''{{iw|fireemblemwiki|Fire Emblem|game}}'', [[fireemblemwiki:Avatar (New Mystery of the Emblem)|Kris]] in ''{{s|fireemblemwiki|Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem: Heroes of Light and Shadow}}'', and [[Robin]] in ''{{s|fireemblemwiki|Fire Emblem Awakening}}'', Corrin is the customizable avatar character in ''{{iw|fireemblemwiki|Fire Emblem Fates}}''. Their gender, physical appearance, voice, stat builds, and secondary class are customizable by the player before starting a new game. Corrin starts the game as a Nohr prince/princess. Corrin and their royal families carry the blood of {{iw|fireemblemwiki|dragons}}, being able to transform themselves or parts of their body to that of a dragon using their {{iw|fireemblemwiki|Dragonstone}}. They can also use Dragon Veins to alter the surrounding terrain in various ways, a power granted from the ancestral First Dragons.

''Fire Emblem Fates'' is set on the territories of {{iw|fireemblemwiki|Hoshido}} and {{iw|fireemblemwiki|Nohr}}. Their royalty share a similar line of descent from the First Dragons, but they worship different deities: the Dawn Dragon and the Dusk Dragon, respectively. Corrin was born in Hoshido but kidnapped to Nohr at a young age, being isolated in the Northern Fortress during their childhood. Once they become of age and best their older brother, {{iw|fireemblemwiki|Xander}}, in a practice match, King {{iw|fireemblemwiki|Garon}} deems them worthy, providing them with the sword {{iw|fireemblemwiki|Ganglari}} to be used on the Hoshidan prisoners {{iw|fireemblemwiki|Kaze}} and {{iw|fireemblemwiki|Rinkah}}, among others. Corrin succeeds in defeating the prisoners but, out of compassion, refuses to kill them. Enraged, Garon has Xander kill the prisoners instead, but Corrin briefly clashes with Xander until {{iw|fireemblemwiki|Leo|Fates}} steps in to dispatch them (secretly leaving them alive) and convince Garon to lessen Corrin's punishment.

Garon sends Corrin to inspect a Hoshidan fortress above the Bottomless Canyon to pardon their crime. However, one of Garon's men, {{iw|fireemblemwiki|Hans}}, provokes the Hoshidans into battle and knocks {{iw|fireemblemwiki|Gunter}}, one of Corrin's companions, into the abyss of the canyon. Hoshidan soldiers later find and capture Corrin, who eventually recognizes them as the long-lost member of the Hoshidan royal family. Corrin meets their blood relatives and the songstress {{iw|fireemblemwiki|Azura}}, a former Nohrian Princess raised in Hoshido, in Hoshido's capital city. However, a hooded assassin attempts to kill Corrin, with Corrin's mother, Queen {{iw|fireemblemwiki|Mikoto}}, shielding them at the cost of her life. Out of distress, Corrin's dragon blood is awakened, transforming them into a Feral Dragon and causing them to rampage. Their rampage routs the hooded assassin as well as other mysterious soldiers in pursuit of Hoshido. Corrin is calmed down by Azura, who sings {{iw|fireemblemwiki|Lost in Thoughts All Alone}} to revert them to their human form. Afterwards, Corrin is given a dragonstone to control their dragon form at will, and claims the legendary Yato blade, which is said to belong to the one who will save the world. The Hoshidan and Nohrian royal families, now aware of Corrin's heritage, declare war on each other and eventually meet in battle for both conquest of their respective lands and custody of Corrin. Upon witnessing this great struggle, Corrin is forced to make a choice over who to side with.

This choice is dependant on what campaign the player takes, which all diverge at this point. In the ''Birthright'' campaign, Corrin sides with Hoshido and helps push the Nohr forces back, and is labeled a traitor in the process. In the ''Conquest'' campaign, Corrin sides with Nohr and helps push the Hoshido forces back, and is labeled a traitor in the process. In the ''Revelation'' campaign, Corrin refuses to take a side and instead forms an underground resistance movement in an effort to defeat both kingdoms and establish peace between them. 

Corrin starts in the {{iw|fireemblemwiki|Nohr Prince}}/{{iw|fireemblemwiki|Nohr Princess}} class, a class-exclusive to them and their child, {{iw|fireemblemwiki|Kana}}. In this class, they can wield swords and Dragonstones. They can also transform parts of their body to attack when attacking using {{iw|fireemblemwiki|Dragon Fang}} skill. With a Master Seal, Corrin can promote to a {{iw|fireemblemwiki|Nohr Noble}} and gain the ability to wield tomes, or to a {{iw|fireemblemwiki|Hoshido Noble}} and gain the ability to use staves. In addition to this, Corrin has a wealth of other options - they can reclass into their secondary class with a Heart Seal, their spouse's base class with a Partner Seal, or an A+ supporting character's base class with a Friendship Seal. As they are able to Support almost nearly every playable character in the game, this gives them a myriad of possibilities for reclassing. Finally, they can use any of the various special reclassing items to access otherwise inaccessible classes, such as the Dread Fighter, Ballistician, or even character-specific classes like [[Marth]]'s Lodestar class.

Since ''Fates'', both the default male and female versions of Corrin have appeared in other ''Fire Emblem'' games. Both versions of Corrin can be summoned as illusory allies in ''{{s|fireemblemwiki|Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia}}'' using the matching ''Smash'' [[amiibo]], and both versions appear as units the player can recruit in the crossover game ''{{s|fireemblemwiki|Fire Emblem Heroes}}''. Female Corrin also appears prominently as a playable character in ''{{s|fireemblemwiki|Fire Emblem Warriors}}'', with the male version of Corrin available as well outside of story mode. Most recently, ''{{iw|fireemblemwiki|Fire Emblem Engage}}'' features female Corrin as one of the game's numerous Emblems, ethereal clones of protagonists from various other ''Fire Emblem'' games who dwell within special rings.

Corrin is a [[downloadable]] newcomer in ''Super Smash Bros. 4'' released on February 3rd, 2016, alongside {{SSB4|Bayonetta}}. Instead of being bundled with a new stage, like with the other DLC newcomers, two new music tracks for [[Coliseum]] and [[Castle Siege]] will be unlocked alongside Corrin.

Corrin is placed currently at 13th place out of 55 total characters on the ''SSB4'' [[tier list]], ranking them at the top of the B tier. Corrin's reach is their strongest positive, with their forward smash being notable as the longest reaching in the game. Their range is also complimented well with their overall decent frame data, and, much like {{SSB4|Marth}}, they possess a tipper that deals significantly more knockback. Yet, just like Marth, Corrin does have issues scoring KOs from up close, as the launch power in their non-tipper hits have relatively little knockback. They also suffer from overall mediocre mobility in both the air and on the ground. Currently, Corrin has fairly solid tournament representation and results to their name.
