{{pkmn|Clefairy}} is a Normal-type Pokémon introduced in {{iw|bulbapedia|Generation I}}, and is categorized within the Pokédex at #035 as the "Fairy Pokémon". It evolves into {{pkmn|Clefable}} using a Moon Stone, and evolves from {{pkmn|Cleffa}} when its {{iw|bulbapedia|friendship}} is very high. Starting in {{iw|bulbapedia|Generation VI}}, it was changed into a Fairy-type.

{{iw|bulbapedia|Metronome|move}} is a non-damaging Normal-type move that allows the user randomly perform almost any move available. It is {{iw|bulbapedia|TM35}} in {{iw|bulbapedia|Generation I}}. As of {{iw|bulbapedia|Generation IV}}, Clefairy is one of the ten Pokémon that can naturally learn Metronome.

Clefairy makes its debut in the ''Super Smash Bros.'' series as one of the thirteen [[Poké Ball]] [[List of Pokémon|Pokémon]] that appear in ''[[Super Smash Bros.]]'' When summoned, Clefairy will use Metronome, an attack that allows it to use the special attack of a random Poké Ball Pokémon ([[Mew]] included). Clefairy will deal 12% to opponents that come into direct contact with it, regardless of what Pokémon it copied; it overrides the contact damage of Pokémon like Snorlax and Beedrill and deals damage even when copying Chansey, Goldeen, and Mew (who can't deal any damage themselves). Clefairy's attack will not harm the summoner. Its Japanese and English voice clips each come from the ''Pokémon'' episode ''Clefairy and the Moon Stone''.

Clefairy reappears in ''[[Super Smash Bros. Melee]]'', although Metronome has been modified to consist of four, random attacks:

*{{iw|bulbapedia|Gust|move}}: Any character caught in the whirlwind will take heavy amount of damage, but not enough to [[KO]] them. This can be SDI'd out of, allowing characters to escape or reduce damage taken.
*{{iw|bulbapedia|Fire Spin|move}}: This attack burns the ground around Clefairy, damaging any opponent caught in it. Like Gust, this can be SDI'd out of.
*{{iw|bulbapedia|Waterfall|move}}: This attack has high vertical [[knockback]], large range, and hits many times, to the point that it can [[star KO]] a character.
*{{iw|bulbapedia|Self-Destruct|move}}: This attack is similar to [[Electrode]]'s Explosion. Any character caught in the blast radius will take damage.

As in ''Smash 64'', the summoner is immune to damage from Clefairy's attacks, including Self-Destruct. Its Japanese voice clip comes from a different part of ''Clefairy and the Moon Stone'' while its English voice clip is the same one used in ''Smash 64''.
