Lockdown Battle Theme Spirit Battle inspiration:
  • The grey/default Giant R.O.B. represents E.M.M.I., a giant white robot with an acronymic name.
  • The music track is based on the miniboss battle theme from Metroid: Other M, referencing the E.M.M.I.'s status as minibosses in Metroid Dread.
  • The rules reference the E.M.M.I.'s invulnerability against Samus's normal weapons, and their ability to quickly pursue and kill Samus if they spot her.
  • The fighters starting off with low HP and the rules' short intervals reference Samus's narrow chance of defeating the E.M.M.I. with an Omega Blaster shot, and the E.M.M.I.'s high chance of killing Samus.

Other trivia:
  • This spirit's Attack type and Speed ↑ ability further references how the E.M.M.I. are quick and powerful robots.

Trivia[edit]

  • The artwork used for Nightmare's spirit has never been publicly released prior to Ultimate. Based on the design and art style, it is presumably concept art from Metroid: Other M.
  • The artwork used for the Geemer spirit is actually identified as a Zoomer in the English translation of the Metroid: Zero Mission manual. It should be noted that "Geemer" and "Zoomer" are alternate translations of the same enemy name (ギーマー), although the Metroid Prime series established Geemers and Zoomers as two separate but closely-related species.
  • Prior to Ultimate, "Mecha Ridley" was an unofficial translation of Ridley Robot's Japanese name, which became popular enough as a nickname that it often was interchangeably used with the official name.
  • The Samus (Metroid Dread) and E.M.M.I. spirits are the only DLC spirits to be available through amiibo, with their compatibility being in an update.
