Origin
Chibi-Robo first appears in Chibi-Robo! Plug Into Adventure!. In the game, a Chibi-Robo is a robot whose goal is to make people happy. They are designed by a company called Citrusoft, and every Chibi-Robo comes with a Chibi-House shaped like its head. The Chibi-Robos are preceded by Giga-Robos, a much larger, similar looking robot also made by Citrusoft before Chibi-Robos were invented. Chibi-Robos have been known to be unable to speak, but they can say yes or no using signs. They run on Watts, and can be recharged by plugging into an outlet or using an emergency battery.

A Chibi-Robo is the main character of the first Chibi-Robo! game and all of the games after it. The Chibi-Robo line in this game serve the family that purchased them. There are thousands of Chibi-Robos in the game's universe, though the player takes control of only the one in the Sanderson household, which is the game's setting. His batteries are recharged by the many outlets in the house, and these rechargeable batteries can be upgraded to hold more (and eventually infinite) electricity. He is assisted by Telly Vision, who gives Chibi-Robo advice on how to earn Happy Points in the original game. Tellys go on to appear in every single Chibi-Robo! game, excluding Park Patrol, but with a vastly different appearance each time.

Chibi-Robo appears as a Spirit along with being a Mii Costume for the Mii Gunner.
Chibi-Robo appears as a Mii Costume for the Mii Gunner.

Spirits
Chibi-Robo also appears as two primary spirits. Super Chibi-Robo can be obtained by enhancing the Chibi-Robo spirit at level 99.

In Adventure Mode: World of Light, Chibi-Robo is presumably one of the countless spirits captured by Galeem during his takeover of the universe. After Galeem's defeat, Dharkon takes control of Galeem's spirits, including Chibi-Robo. After Dharkon's defeat, he flees to the final world, with Galeem following soon after. In the final world, Galeem and Dharkon wage war against each other using their captured spirits, with Galeem taking control of Chibi-Robo.

Chibi-Robo's Spirit Battle uses a Tiny Mii Gunner puppet fighter wearing the Chibi-Robo Hat and Outfit, and is fought on the Living Room stage. During the battle, the Mii Gunner puppet fighter takes serious damage, referencing Chibi-Robo's limited battery life where he will collapse if it is completely depleted. Also, the Nintendog appears as a hostile Assist Trophy, representing the Sanderson family's dog, Tao.
