| | Charmander is the Fire-type Starter Pokémon in Pokémon Red & Blue, and their GBA remakes Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen. It evolves into Charmeleon from experience level 16 onwards, and later on Charizard at level 36 onwards. |
| Charmander is the basic Fire-type bulbapedia of bulbapedia, and is categorized within the Pokédex at #004 as the "Lizard Pokémon". It is known for the fire on the tip of its tail, which shows its vitality. It evolves into Charmeleon at level 16, which in turn evolves into Charizard at level 36.

| | Charmander is a somewhat small bipedal orange lizard with a flame perpetually burning on its tail. Pokédex entries explain that the flame is an indication of its health and emotions, burning vigorously and brightly if its life force is strong and burning all the more strongly if it is enraged, while it wavers when Charmander is enjoying itself and it burns weakly if Charmander is weak. If the flame were to ever go out, its life would end. While it obviously prefers hot environments and things, when it is healthy it can withstand a little water; the flame burns vigorously even if it gets a bit wet, and if caught in the rain, steam is said to spout from the tip of its tail. The flame makes a sound as it burns, but you can only hear it in quiet places. Even the newborns have flaming tails; Unfamiliar with fire, babies are said to accidentally burn themselves. |

| Charmander is one of the five Pokémon which come out of the central building in Saffron City to perform an attack. It attacks fighters close to it with a Flamethrower attack, which acts similarly to the effect of the Fire Flower item. Its Japanese voice clip is from the Pokémon episode The Tower of Terror. | |

| |desc=A Lizard Pokémon. It just downright likes hot stuff. The always-burning tail indicates its mood--waving gently when content and burning intensely when angry. If the tail were to go out, it would be the end of Charmander's life. Its tail is believed to emit steam when it rains. Charmander evolves into Charmeleon by leveling up.
