When this category was first created, it was during the heyday of the online competitive scene and around the time when the wiki began adapting to include more of the online metagame. As such, the category was initially created to recognize those with achievements in the online metagame. Since then, it's became clear to me that this category just serves as being redundant and pointless:
*The vast majority of players in this categories are players who mainly compete offline or have competed offline. As such, virtually every top player in the current offline metagame has the "Wi-Fi Warrior" category, which is very much apparent with Smashmate and Coinbox players, who use both as an opportunity to train for offline competitive play. As such, the purpose of the category ends up becoming something that recognizes that these players have competed online... which is not something that needs to be recognized in the first place.
*Even for players who are exclusively online players, there is no point in giving them a special category just because they haven't competed offline yet. While there are differences between the online and offline metagames, skill level is not one such difference, especially since many players who made their debut online or were first known online have since become respectable offline players in their own rights, showing that players who perform well online can also replicate those performances offline. In that case, this category has no point since having achievements in the online metagame basically means having an achievement in competitive play as a whole, and the latter is easily represented by just having a Smasher page.
*There are over 700 players in this category. No other player category, not even [[:Category:Fox players (SSBM)]] or [[:Category:Meta Knight players (SSBB)]], has numbers remotely close to this category. It makes me question how many of these players are actually "Wi-Fi Warriors" or just players who have done well at a couple of online events. This also relates to the first point in that literally any top player who does well online can get this category, so a top player can be considered a "Wi-Fi Warrior" by simply doing well at a Coinbox event.

I feel like we are at a time where this category is no longer necessary, as at best it serves to glorify a player for playing in online tournaments, and at worst it creates a separation that is erroneous and unnecessary. As such, I believe it's best to retire this category once and for all.
