This move is an original move invented for ''Super Smash Bros. 4''. However, Bowser Jr.'s machines in ''{{s|mariowiki|Super Mario Galaxy}}'' and ''{{s|mariowiki|Super Mario Galaxy 2}}'' explode upon defeat. It also shares its name in English with a [[mariowiki:Abandon Ship (minigame)|minigame]] in ''{{s|mariowiki|Mario Party 2}}''.
The jumping animation for the move is the same one from ''{{s|mariowiki|New Super Mario Bros. Wii}}'', most evident in the third Bowser Jr. fight. The hammer Bowser Jr. swings while in the air is similar to the one used by [[Hammer Bro.]] enemies. [[Bowser]] threw such hammers in ''{{s|mariowiki|Super Mario Bros.}}'' and ''{{s|mariowiki|Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga}}'', but Bowser Jr. was also shown wielding similar hammers in ''{{s|mariowiki|Super Mario Maker}}'', ''{{s|mariowiki|Super Mario Maker 2}}'', and ''{{s|mariowiki|Mario & Luigi: Dream Team}}''.
