The '''1P Game''' (also known as '''1 Player Game''' and '''1P Game Mode''') is the only single-player campaign mode available to play in ''[[Super Smash Bros.]]''. In the mode, players progress through a series of 11 matches (interrupted by a bonus stage after every three matches), culminating in a final battle with the game's [[boss]], [[Master Hand]]. The mode has a static nature in which the player faces the same characters on the same [[stage]]s in a fixed order during each playthrough. There are fourteen stages including bonus stages in this mode and players may choose their character and number of lives before the playthrough. The 1P Game was redone into [[Classic Mode]] in ''[[Super Smash Bros. Melee]]'' and featured a number of changes, among them the removal of the fixed match order.

In ''Melee'', the aspect of fighting a series of opponents en route to [[Master Hand]] (and depending on the difficulty, [[Crazy Hand]]) was instead included in the redone {{SSBM|Classic Mode}}. However, this mode featured randomized opponents and a more streamlined structure, alongside other improvements. Additionally, some fights from the 1P Game reappeared as opponent characters in the new 1 player mode [[Adventure]] in ''Melee'' (including the [[Yoshi Team]], [[Giant Donkey Kong]], the [[Kirby Team]], and [[Metal Mario]]). *It's impossible (without hacking) to clear all of the 8 digits on 1P Game's points counter.
*Luigi is the only [[unlockable character]] that appears as an opponent on 1P Game Mode (as he appears in Stage 4). The other unlockable characters Captain Falcon, Jigglypuff, and Ness can appear as ally characters in Stages 4 and 6, but none of them will appear as opponent characters.
*Allies in Stages 4 and 6 will never be the same character as each other or the player, meaning that it’s not possible to have two Pikachus as an ally and the player cannot get Ness as an ally if they select him. Allies will always use their default costume; if the player gets Luigi as an ally against the Mario Bros. the opponent Luigi will use his white costume. Mario will never appear as an ally in stage 4 as he is an opponent.
*Within a similar mode via ''Ultimate'''s Classic Mode, Jigglypuff and Bowser are the only characters who face a mini-boss originating from 1P Game. Jigglypuff faces Giant Donkey Kong while Bowser fights Metal Mario upon defeating a default Mario.
**Both mini-bosses serve as both characters' final rounds in Classic Mode each.
