"Best Dark Samus player in the world"

When I added Yaura to the notable players section a week or so ago I intentionally didn't take a position on whether he or siqui held the title of best Dark Samus player in the world because I think it's up for debate. I see that this was since changed to say that sisqui is the better player. I believe Yaura has significantly better offline wins (Atelier, Hero, Gackt) than sisqui's (Riddles, SKITTLES!!, AndresFn) and significantly better losses on average. I'm aware that OrionRank ranks sisqui 41 spots above Yaura, however OrionRank is not considered the definitive ranking system for Smash Ultimate and the creators of it have mentioned that it has several methodological issues. EchoRank 2020-2021 has Yaura 42 spots above sisqui, and the yet unreleased 2021 iteration of my own ranking system, ΩRank, also has Yaura significantly above sisqui. BarnardsLoop's own ballot for the PGStatsCord Top 100 (PGSC 100) has Yaura 36 spots above sisqui, and every single ballot for the PGSC 100 (including several ballots from PGStats discord seeders) puts Yaura at least as many spots above sisqui as that. I'm not advocating for either to be listed as the best Dark Samus player in the world; I'm advocating either for sisqui to be listed as "The best Dark Samus player in Europe" and Yaura as "The best Dark Samus player in Japan", or for both to be listed as "One of the best Dark Samus players in the world". --Stuart98 (talk) 20:15, January 17, 2022 (EST)

I personally agree with you that Yaura might be the strongest Dark Samus player. I'm surprisrd my opinion reflects that of the seeders. That said, I see a couple of intertwined issues on Yauras front. First, the wiki is doing its best to avoid recency bias. In the past, that lead to these sections being quite the mess and is why we take our time adding players to these sections. Secondly, Yauras out of region attendance seems a little weak. Only 3 events and it's not as if Shikokus weeklies/monthlies compare favorably in difficult to those in Kanto, Kansai or Chubu. One point in Yauras favor is his success online, second to only YB of the Samus players in Japan, imho. Anyway, curious to see what out wiki users opinions are, as despite my reservations I am fine with changing the titles to best Dark Samus of Japan and best Dark Samus in Europe. I'd be fine with stating that both Yaura and sisqui should be considered "one of the best Dark Samus players in the world," especially during the pandemic when international travel is difficult. It feels like people are quick to jump to sisqui as the best due to sisqui attending much more as well as the spotlight being on him due to his online play and dominance in his scene, but I do see an argument for Yaura as well due to his better wins.
