Mr. Game & Watch's first appearance was in the Game & Watch Series (1980), created by Gunpei Yokoi. However, he wasn't given a name until SSBM, and his obscurity took many by surprise.
Mr. Game & Watch is unlocked by clearing Target Test with all twenty five characters, or alternatively, by playing 1,000 VS. Matches.
Clearing Classic Mode with Mr. Game & Watch will unlock Flat Zone, a level that takes place in a giant Game & Watch.
