Apples are a special kind of item that only appear in the Green Greens stage. Whispy Woods will shake his branches and unleash 2-5 apples from its leaves. Although it's an item, it disappears faster than regular items, like the Hammer head. Two things can happen out of random when the player picks up an apple:
- The apple will heal the player by about 10% (but only if recovery items are turned on).
- The apple can be picked up and thrown at an opponent for a decent amount of damage. It can deal around 7-13%, and if thrown at the ground right in front of someone (while in the air above them), the apple may bounce up and deal 1%. It has a chance of exploding.
Apples also appear in Tortimer Island stage. Here, they appear as one of the fruits that trees can bear; there are two types of apples that the fruit tree may bear: normal apples and perfect apples. Just like other fruits, grabbing one restores fighter's health.

Fruit that falls from above when you're battling Whispy Woods. Kirby can suck them up and spit them out as useful projectile weapons. They're nice to have around when you don't have any Copy Abilities, but they do damage when they hit you, so they can be a bother too. They offer no ability when swallowed. These apples are not produced by Whispy Woods.

Origin
In the Kirby games, apples are thrown as part of one of Whispy Woods's attacks. They damage Kirby on contact. If Kirby has no Copy Ability, inhaling the apples and spitting them back at Whispy Woods is the only way to damage him.
