This track is often considered the main theme of Wii game Sonic and the Secret Rings, wherein the music piece played when Sonic fought the boss Alf Layla Wa-Layla, during the credits for after defeating Erazor Djinn (prior to fighting Alf Layla Wa-Layla) and on the Story Mode menu. The full version of this track featured multiple verses, but the version in Brawl only features the first verse and chorus, sung by Steve Conte.

Origin

This track was the main theme for Sonic Colors. The track was remixed several times throughout Sonic Colors, and even found its way into the 3DS version of Sonic Lost World, where an instrumental version would play when Sonic gained the Speed Shoes. A remixed version also appeared in Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed where it plays when Sonic uses his All-Star Move. The track is performed by Jean Paul Makhlouf, of Cash Cash. The PAL release refers to the game of origin as Sonic Colours due to the difference in spelling. While the song has multiple parts to it, the version in Smash 4 repeats indefinitely after the second verse.

This song made its original appearance in Sonic Unleashed, but in 2011's Sonic Generations, this song was remixed for both Classic and Modern Sonic. The one used in this game is the Modern Sonic remix. The PAL release titles the track as Rooftop Run (Sonic Generations) in order to differentiate this version from the original version from Sonic Unleashed.
