Mii Swordfighter (SSB4)
Swordfighters are weapon masters. They stay cool and calm as they chase down opponents.

A Mii Swordfighter (剣術タイプ, Fencing Type), or Mii Sword Fighter in the PAL version, is one of the three different types of Mii Fighters that appear in Super Smash Bros. 4, along with Mii Brawlers and Mii Gunners.

Moveset

Mii Swordfighters run noticeably slower than Mii Brawlers, and they cannot jump as high, nor possess the ability to wall jump like Mii Brawlers and Mii Gunners. Also, their attacks are weaker and aren't dealt as quickly, albeit with a bit more range (though they still don't have as much range as the Mii Gunner). They use their sword for all of their attacks, except for throws.

Ground attacks

Normal

  • Neutral attack - Two downward horizontal slashes followed by an upward vertical slash. Deals 4%, 3%, then 5%.
  • Dash attack - Thrusts the sword forward. Deals 10% early, 6% late
  • Forward tilt - Swipes the blade once in a wide arc in front of himself/herself. Deals 12% damage.
  • Up tilt - A single slash in an arc above his/her head. Deals 7% damage.
  • Down tilt - Stabs along the ground. Deals 6% damage

Smash attacks

  • Forward smash - Holds the sword with two hands, then swings it in front of his/herself similar to Link's first hit of his smash attack. Deals 14% damage at the hilt, 15% damage at the center of the sword, and 16% at the tip of the sword.
  • Up smash - Performs a series of quick slashes above his/her head, launching the enemy on the last hit, similar to Pit's up smash. Deals 17% if all hits connect.
  • Down smash - Slashes along the ground in front of and behind his/herself. The first hit deals 12% damage while the second hit deals 15% damage

Aerial attacks

  • Neutral aerial - Slashes in a circle around himself/herself while doing a corkscrew in the air. Deals 5% damage.
  • Forward aerial - Stabs forward multiple times. Deals 3%, 3%, then 5%
  • Back aerial - Swipes the blade behind himself/herself. Very similar to Ike's back air. Deals 12% damage.
  • Up aerial - Points the sword above his/her head and spins. Deals 16% early with very good knockback, but only deals 10% late.
  • Down aerial - Points the sword below himself/herself and spins. In the air, it hits up to 5 times, dealing 1% damage per hit. When landing on the ground, it deals 5% damage. A drilling meteor smash.

Grabs and throws

  • Pummel - Pounds the opponent with the hilt of the Swordfighter's sword. Deals 3.25% damage.
  • Forward throw - Front kicks the enemy away. Deals 6% damage.
  • Back throw - Hits the enemy away with a back kick. Deals 6% damage.
  • Up throw - Slashes the enemy above his/her head. Deals 5% damage.
  • Down throw - Drops the enemy to the ground and stomps on them. Deals 4% damage.

Taunts

  • Standard/Up: Spins in place while tossing their sword airborne and catching it just as they end their spin. They then briefly hold the sword behind them before returning to their idle animation.
  • Side: Hunch over and twirl the blades of their swords around on both sides of themselves.
  • Down: Calmly and slowly drawing their sword backwards before returning to their idle animation. It looks similar to one of Link's taunts.

Special Moves

  • Neutral Special 1: Gale Strike: Creates a mini-tornado and sends it forwards. The damage that it deals decreases the farther it travels and it can push opponents during the end. Aesthetically, this move resembles Link's Gale Boomerang. Deals 2-3.4% damage per hit.
  • Neutral Special 2: Shuriken of Light: Throws a bright, translucent shuriken forwards. The shuriken gains more damaging power as it travels. Deals 1.2%, 3.2%, 4.8%, or 8.8% damage depending on distance.
  • Neutral Special 3: Blade Flurry: Charges briefly before stabbing with the sword forward multiple times before finishing in a high-knockback thrust. Deals 9.8-23.75% damage if all hits connect.
  • Side Special 1: Airborne Assault: Charges up then launches at the enemy, somersaulting with the blade. Deals 7.2-16% damage.
  • Side Special 2: Slash Launcher: Charges, then dashes forward with a sword strike. Resembles Ike's Quick Draw in function. Deals 6-10.2% damage.
  • Side Special 3: Chakram: Throws a chakram that can be sent upwards, downwards, or straight forward. If inputted like a Smash attack, it will fly faster with increased range and damage. Otherwise, it will fly in front of the Swordfighter and stall in mid-air, hitting multiple times. The chakram can be lodged into the floor like Mega Man's Metal Blade, but cannot be picked up. The slow chakrams deal 7% damage if all hits connect while the fast chakrams deal 6.5% damage.
  • Up Special 1: Stone Scabbard: Slashes upwards while jumping and then downwards while falling. Similar to Kirby's Final Cutter. The first hit deals 5%, the second hit deals 3%, and the third hit deals 5%. The sword when going through platforms deals 6% damage.
  • Up Special 2: Skyward Slash Dash: A series of sword strikes while rising into the air. The dash can be aimed in any direction using the control stick. Deals 12% damage if all hits connect.
  • Up Special 3: Hero's Spin: Spins with sword; if used in the air, the Mii will rise. Functions like Link's Spin Attack. Deals 12-16.8% damage on the ground and deals 14% in the air if all hits connect.
  • Down Special 1: Blade Counter: Functions similarly to other characters' counterattacks. Deals approximately 1.25x the damage of an attack that they counter, with a minimum of 8% damage.
  • Down Special 2: Reversal Slash: An attack that reflects projectiles and turns around characters hit by it. Similar to Mario's Cape. Deals 6% damage to opponents. Reflected projectiles deal 1.5x the damage those would would normally do.
  • Down Special 3: Power Thrust : Lurches forward, stabbing with the sword. The tip of the sword deals more damage. This move acts similar to Captain Falcon's Falcon Kick. Deals 8-13% during the attack, and deals 7% damage when landing on the ground.

Final Smash

  • Final Edge: Displays their sword and fires waves of energy off of it. Functions similarly to Wii Fit. In the 3DS version, the energy waves are all aimed horizontally, while in the Wii U version, this move appears to send out energy waves in more directions, thus having more range.

The Mii Swordfighter's regular trophy can be obtained by completing Classic Mode. Its alternative trophy can be obtained by completing All-Star mode in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS or can be purchased from the trophy shop in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

Mii Swordfighter (NA) / Mii Sword Fighter (PAL)
NA: This fighter is based on a player's Mii and favors a sword in battle. Enjoy the extra reach the sword offers, but remember that it takes a bit longer for strikes to reach your opponent as a result. Customize your Mii with chargeable moves, counters, or projectile attacks.
PAL: A fighter based on your Mii! The main draw of Sword Fighters is the extra reach that they get thanks to their swords. On top of that, they have a lot of varied moves to choose from. Unfortunately, a lot of sword attacks have a bit of delay between pressing the button and landing the attack, so you'll need to be very careful not to leave yourself open!
Mii Swordfighter (Alt.) (NA) / Mii Sword Fighter (Alt.) (PAL)
NA: One of the Mii Swordfighter side specials actually uses a throwing disc called a chakram! How quickly you press your desired direction controls how fast and far the chakram flies and how much damage it does. Several other moves, like Skyward Slash Dash, also work in this manner.
PAL: One of the Mii Sword Fighter side specials actually uses a throwing disc called a chakram! How quickly you choose a direction controls how far and fast the chakram flies, as well as the kind of damage it does. This kind of quick-aiming action also applies to other special moves, like Super Slash Dash.

  • The design of the Mii Swordfighter used in promotional material is based on a slightly edited version of Guest B, one of the pre-loaded Miis available for use in titles with Mii support. Of the three, the Mii Swordfighter has the least drastic change in design; simply swapping the direction his hair is positioned horizontally.
  • The Mii Swordfighter is the first (and currently only) character in the series who shares a taunt with another character, with said other character in this case being Link.
