User:Zeldasmash/Zeldasmash List Of Tier Lists
I created this page so i can put my tier lists separated from my user page. In the real tier lists for Brawl there are receptions of my crew and me put together to show what we think about them.
The Melee Tier Lists
Below are opinions for the 10th tier list. (Though the 3rd Tier List is mine) There are also the real tier lists for Melee which my crew will give reception to. The PAL Tier Lists and the Brazillan Tier List will also be receptioned.

Though this was the first tier list, Smash World Forums was rife with discussion about tiers long before the Melee Back Room released its "MBR Tier Averages." The term "F/F/S" (short for "Falco, Fox and Sheik") was popular as a quick reference to Melee's top tier. Members on Smashboards, perhaps in backlash against novice sentiment towards Roy and Link, generally disdained those characters, and generally favored the game's fastest characters.
Members on Smashboards largely contested this tier list's placement of Mewtwo, which they felt to be too low. Many Smashboarders considered Mewtwo a low or even middle tier character and were bothered that it, despite its great recovery and powerful throws, was placed at the bottom of bottom tier, where most people believed Bowser belonged.
Reception
This tier list (despite some characters in good places) was highly criticized by many of my crew. Only 2/10 members gave positive reviews to the list. The list was highly criticized for Mewtwo's placing in the FIRST tier list, which many of my crew though it was ridiculous and were more disgusted by the fact that Bowser was nominated to be bottom tier instead of Mewtwo and that Mewtwo was nominated to be low or even Middle tier, which caused the crew to be infuriated to the SBR. For my crew, this tier list is one of the worst tier lists ever made. I included it in the "Worst Tier Lists Ever" category and was ranked #3 in it, losing to SSB with it's 1st tier list and Brawl with it's 4th tier list.
Second tier list (December 19, 2002)
For the second tier list, the Melee Back Room created two tier lists: one made from the average (mean) of votes, and another from the mode.

Reception
The tier list is significantly better than the first one but still received negative reception due to Mewtwo's still low placement. Only 3/10 of the members gave it a positive. The list was criticized for Peach now being the Mushroom leader and Mario's drop from 5th to 6th. Pichu is now the bottom tier, something that all of us Bowser to be in.

This tier list was released soon after Ken Hoang won Tournament Go 4. Before Ken, Marth strategy largely encompassed rolling and C-stick smashing symptomatic of low-level play today, but Ken introduced to the community the uses of dash-dancing, chain throwing and aerial attacks, all techniques that largely improved Marth's metagame and moved him to top tier for years to come.
This is the first tier list that officially ranks characters into tiers.

This tier list doubled as an April Fools joke and a lesson to the community to not blindly swallow the Melee Back Room tier list as the truth. Though most people suspected this tier list was a hoax, it set a precedent to criticizing the tier list that had not existed before.
To "defend" this hoax during the two tumultuous days it was the official tier list, Melee Back Room members argued that Marth was too slow to remain in the top two tiers, that Link had untapped aerial prowess, and that Jigglypuff, through speed and the Wall of Pain, ruled the air to the point of domination. Ironically, the latter prediction would come true in the post-Brawl metagame.
The Melee Back Room forgot to include Yoshi in this tier list; once people realized he was missing (six hours after the list was posted), the MBR put him in.

The names of these tiers were originally called God Tier, Top Tier, High Tier, Middle Tier, and Low Tier; these names were changed to the ones shown above on July 10th, two days after the tier list was released.
This tier list marks the first time Sheik was not in top tier, and contains the biggest bottom tier of any tier list thus far. The balance of the tier list was a point of contention amongst many Smashers, who felt that it was too bottom-heavy and that the lower tiers should themselves be split, or the high tiers merged (particularly the top two).

Current PAL Tier List
The second, and current, PAL Melee tier list was released on March 26, 2010 on the European Competitive Discussion subforum on SmashBoards, and was created by taking tier lists submitted by thirty three of the top smashers from PAL countries and calculating each character's average position overall.

Reception
This tier list received mixed reception. 5/10 gave it a positive. We don't really know what to say about the tier list but some liked it, but some didn't.
Previous PAL Tier List
Even though many people felt that the PAL region should have its own tier list, it wasn't until February 2007 that a selection of European and Australian top players voted on the official PAL tier list. The project was started and supervised by Dutch smasher Marc.

Reception
The tier list is significantly worse than the current tier list (the one above) and received negative reviews. Only 3/10 members gave it a positive review. This tier list had Mewtwo at the very bottom and Bowser is the best of the Bottom 4, which was no good for most of the members. The list was also panned due to Peach now being one of the Top 5, somethng that all of us did not wanted to happen.

Reception
The tier list received positive reception. 8/10 of the members gave it a positive review. The list was praised from Mewtwo finally no longer being Bottom Tier now Low Tier. Though the positive acclaim, some of the members were upset about Link's placing since he was 1 space to go into high tier, but was blocked by Ganondorf.
1st Tier List
I highly point out that Fox should be higher than Falco on the tier list, but due to his better attributes, i was unable. This tier list features Falcon last on the S tier section due (to my opinion) having great running speed and can psuedo-chain grab and has excellent combo abilities and powerful Knee Smash combo killer and finisher. Captain Falcon will rank higher on later tier lists.

This is the tier list that brought glory to Captain Falcon. Captain Falcon is ranked 3rd instead of 6th (which so far, it's Falcon's worst position) for the same stats as before but this time i know how to use him better than last time. This is the first time that Fox passed Falco in tier placing (they are on the same tier) for his faster movement and that Fox manages to make combos somewhat easier than Falco and his powerful up smash and up aerial.
3rd Tier List
Zero Suit Samus made a huge jump from her previously low tier position which was 29th now 20th (the highest increase in the tier list). Samus made it to her 3rd position and Captain Falcon moved down to 5th. Most think that Samus and Captain Falcon should be tied for 3rd and 4th. Ganondorf is no longer last (courtesy of Omega Tyrant) and now it' Lucas.
4th Tier List
Captain Falcon and Samus are tied for the same position (3rd and 4th) like most predicted. Wario and Diddy Kong are no longer bottom tier and Toon Link is no longer 36th (2nd from bottom) now it's Peach for her poor KO power and severley nerfed down smash. Ganondorf returned to being bottom and Lucas is now 3rd from last.
5th Tier List
This is the only tier list where Samus or Captain Falcon are not in 3rd place, instead being Fox. This is also the only tier list not to feature Lucario in the High tier, instead in his place in the 3rd Tier List for Brawl (the tier list look itself is the 3rd tier list for Brawl). Bowser did a downgrade to the bottom of the low tier. From the looks at Bowser's placing, Bowser will likely fall in the bottom tier and let Lucas out of the low tier.

The first tier list to have characters in their own tiers (Link and Meta Knight respectively) Sonic did a huge downgrade from Mid to Mid/LOW tier. Bowser was saved from bottom tier and Ganondorf is no longer bottom again and now it's Peach. Captain Falcon was nominated to be alone in S Tier, but Meta Knight was seemingly better than Captain Falcon and beat him to the punch.

7th Tier List
The only tier list not to have Link at first and Meta Knight at 2nd. I finally realized that Samus is my other main so i put her at first but i decided to tie Link and Samus for first since i am still not convinced Link goes below 1st.
The Favorites List
This my list of favorite characters. To those characters, this list is like an award.
Trivia
- Link and Meta Knight are the only characters who always stayed in the same position as always.
- Strangely, the 3rd position has always been taken by either Samus or Captain Falcon. Most think that Samus and Captain Falcon should be tied for this position.
- Excluding Falco, Meta Knight and Fox, the S Tier is run by heavyweights.
- From the the 2nd tier list changes to the third, Zero Suit Samus made the biggest ascend and change from any tier list
- The 4th tier list resembles Brawl's tier list in its 3rd version.
Real Tier Lists For Brawl
First tier list (September 1, 2008)
While many players wanted to have a tier list a month or 2 after Brawl's release, the SBR decided (and with good reason) to wait at least a couple of months before making the first tier list. The idea was that making a tier list too early would result in it becoming quickly outdated, forcing the SBR to make a second one. The SBR made the correct decision. Players' perception of the tier list changed dramatically between the game's release and September. The most noticeable fluctuation was Snake's placing, who was first about mid tier, then sky rocketed to the #1 spot above Meta Knight. Snake was considered the best character in the game for quite a while, this opinion being backed up by tournaments where Snake took almost all the top spots (in one case, the top 5 placings were all Snake). It wasn't until around when Mew2king started dominating with Meta Knight that players realized Meta Knight was better.
Reception
Reviews were from positive to mixed to mostly negative recption. 5/10 of our reviews were positive.
2nd
Second tier list (January 5, 2009)
By this time no player doubted Meta Knight's placing in the old tier list. In many players' opinions, Meta Knight wasn't just better than every other character, but better by a noticeable gap. Meta Knight was considered so good that it caused a huge debate on whether Meta Knight should be allowed in tournaments. After many heated discussions, the SBR decided by vote that Meta Knight should be left alone and no one should be banned.
Snake was also elevated above other characters to a similar degree, though not to the point of being considered banned. This resulted in both of these characters having their own tiers. Diddy Kong also received a huge bump up the tier list after NinjaLink successfully beat Mew2king by abusing Diddy's bananas to a level not seen before.
Reception
This tier list received somewhat positive reviews. The group has a 7/10 (60%) has given it a positive review. It was praised because Link is no longer 2nd bottom. It was also praised because Falco is 3rd Best and Mario is no longer one of the worst in the low (he is now the leader). It was also praised because Meta Knight and Snake have their own tiers, something that most of us, including me, wanted to happen on the tier list. Despite this, the list was criticized because of Captain Falcon still being the worst character, something that all of us wanted Ganondorf to be in. It was also criticized because of Bowser being higher than Fox and Sheik in the tier list (although in the first tier list had Fox higher than Bowser).
3rd
Third tier list (June 4, 2009)
The first tier list to not have Captain Falcon last on the list. Instead, Ganondorf is last because of his slow attacks, bad recovery, and lack of mobility.
In this list, Wario and Sonic made a large jump. Wario's change is due to the newly found usefulness of his great air mobility, coupled with great recovery and heavy weight, making him a very defensive character that is hard to KO. While most of the community perceived Sonic as a bad character, dedicated mains continued to defy the tier list of Jan 1, 2009 by placing high in tourneys. In this tier list, their efforts were finally recognized.
Reception
Reviews were positive to overwhelmingly mixed. It is shown that only 5/10 (meaning 40% or 37%) gave it a positive review. The tier list was highly criticized due to Wario's high placement and Link's return to second last. The only thing that was praised was that Captain Falcon is no longer bottom and Sonic's huge jump, putting him out of the low tier (last time he was 6th from last). The list was criticized due to Diddy Kong's placement in the top tier and that Peach and Luigi were higher than Fox and Wolf on the tier list.
4th
Fourth tier list (February 26, 2010)
Reception
This tier list received overwhelmingly negative reviews. Only 2/10 (5%) gave it a positive review. The list was highly criticized of Diddy Kong being 3rd best and even passing Falco on the list. The list was also crticized because of Ike's introduction in the low tiers and Mario's nerfed position. One of the major reasons the list was panned is R.O.B's severely nerfed position, lowering 5 spots on the previous list to this one. And the other main reason is Zelda's introduction into the Bottom tier (a tier she has never been on in Brawl) despite being buffed from Melee to Brawl. Another reason is that the G Tier is nothing but a "Zelda" Tier now due to having the main characters from the Zelda series (even the 3 Triforce Weilders) and is now the worst group in the game. The list was praised only because Captain Falcon is out of the bottom tier. The list was also panned due to the Ice Climbers huge and suddenly high position. Most of us did want the Ice Climbers to rise, but not by that much. The tier list is in the worst tier list ever category and is ranked #1, meaning that for us, its the worst tier list ever made.

Reception
The tier list was highly panned by many of my crew mainly due to its lack of recovery with the characters and Link being at the very bottom, something that was completely unnecessary. The list was criticized mainly because many of the better characters are to low on placing (especially Fox, Falco and Captain Falcon).
9th Competency Chart
Ike recieved a huge bump from the previous tier list
