ToastUltimatum (talkcontribsedit countRFA page)

Candidate, please summarize why you are running for adminship below.
Hey guys. I've been on SmashWiki for roughly 7 months now, and I think now is a suitable time to submit an RfA. You can see my major contributions here, but I'll mention the most important on this page. I'll start off with what is probably my most recognisable contribution, where I made an article for every music track in Brawl in as great of detail as I can muster. This also meant creating an infobox, which got me into understanding Wiki Coding. While I can't figure out everything, I'd say I have a good understanding of it, hence why I have been helping out with Toomai's interwiki project. I've made proposals, such as the renaming of the Melee Stage Articles, which was successful, as well as others such as the creation of a Bot on SmashWiki. Yet you may think somehing along the lines of "Well, that's all well and nice, but you don't need admin powers to do any of that", but in fact it could have proven useful. During the process of the music articles, there were redirects that needed suppressing, and only admins could rename the Melee stage articles. If I were an admin back then, I could have done all of that myself. I'd also be sure to run through the articles nominated for Speedy Deletion and similar categories to act out the necessary duties. The ability to edit protected pages such as Super Smash Bros. 4 would also be beneficial. I've combated vandalism, such as Mr. Goggins' attack, and have a good relationship with users, whether they be 3 days new, or of a higher rank than I am, and I would be happy to help anyone who has a problem. I'm very dedicated to this wiki, and whenever I'm on the internet, I've always got Recent changes and Web chat open on a tab. Yet that's another thing that may question some, that being my activity. It was once the case that, due to not having internet at home, I could only edit when I visited a certain parent's house, or when I am at school, but this is set to change. As of February 1st, I'll have internet access at my own home, meaning I will be able to go on SmashWiki whenever I want. And I will be online a lot. I hope you will consider me a viable candidate!

  1. I can't believe he wasn't admin sooner. Seriously guys Toast is an amazing user that deserves this.Drakon64 CharizardHeadSSBB.png 20:03, 28 January 2012 (EST)

Oppose

  1. Minor Opposition With two people running for janitorial adminship, and a third possible candidate, I would have to say that you are the least deserving of the adminship role. This is not saying that you would make a bad admin, but in comparson, Mouse has marked more pages for deletion and requested more pages to be moved. If he were to wait for you to do that, it would still waste time. I am neutral on UtH, but he has shown massive dedication to the Wiki, as evident by the amount of effort put into the origin sections. Again, you wouldn't be a bad admin, but UtH and Mouse would have a better use being janitorial admins. MegaTron1XD:p 10:02, 28 January 2012 (EST)
  2. Oppose Sure you could have used the admin tools for suppressing redirects, but that alone wouldn't mean you need adminship. Like Mega pointed out, there are five other users I would support adminship for over yourself, and as I said on Unknown's RfA, the Wiki doesn't need a janitorial admin, which you seem to be running for. Plus, I don't see you enforcing the Wiki policies, nor see an ability to handle/solve user disputes. Like Unknown, you're a good user, but you have yet to be admin material in my eyes. 3. Oppose: What OT said. Unless you can link to user conflict mediation, the best we can expect of you as an admin is janitorial work, and we've got enough admins to deal with the wiki's limited janitorial work at the moment. PenguinofDeath 13:01, 28 January 2012 (EST)
  4. Oppose Like Unknown, OT explained it. ..... The Overmind 14:09, 28 January 2012 (EST)
  5. Oppose What OT said ^. Luigi540 (talk) 14:54, 28 January 2012 (EST)
  6. Oppose: Your RfA basically says, "I am a good contributor". You are, but it requires more than that to be a sysop. You don't do things that would require the tools, and I'm not sure you've shown you're capable of using them properly. DoctorPain99 {ROLLBACKER} 18:55, 28 January 2012 (EST)
  7. Oppose. As an editor, I have few problems with your abilities, and on the contrary, I'd consider you one of the most ambitious, particularly with your "Project Terahertz" project you're working on. However, I do not see you needing administrative capabilities, due to your lack of need to delete pages, suppress redirects or perform similar actions; additionally, unlike the concurrent RfA with Unknown, I have not seen you take part in a noteworthy amount of user disputes. --- ReiDemon, Author Extraordinaire, 22:32, 29 January 2012 (EST)
  8. Oppose. Honestly, you haven't done much to merit adminship. Other possible candidates, like Mousehunter, UtH, Havoc, DP99, and myself are more suited in my opinion. That said, you are a really good contributer, though as the famed Clarinet Hawk once said, "Not every good soldier should be a general." Mr. AnonAnon.pngtalk 22:39, 29 January 2012 (EST)
  9. Slight Oppose Similar to other users' sentiments, I see you as a valuable editor, but I question your need for administrative tools. Mousehunter321 (talk · contributions) 23:51, 29 January 2012 (EST)
  10. If I had to choose between you and UtH, it's UtH. --Havoc48 >:D!!! 23:56, 29 January 2012 (EST)

Neutral

  1. You've been an excellent editor so far, but I think you should focus on content editing for the time being. An RFR would be in order if you've got the reverts for it. Miles (talk) 17:37, 28 January 2012 (EST)

Question: Can you give examples of yourself having handled disputes? Mr. AnonAnon.pngtalk 15:09, 28 January 2012 (EST)

@Mr.Anon: I don't know whether or not this counts, it's probably more just calming the situation, but it's the closest I have to handling a dispute. In hindsight, a definite situation of dispute handling would have been a big aid in making an RfA, which I perhaps should have waited for first. I can give examples of me resolving vandalism, however. Toast Wii U Logo Transparent.pngltimatumTransparent Swadloon.png 15:23, 28 January 2012 (EST)

@Miles: I actually got my third RfR point today, so I'd consider one of those very likely. Toast Wii U Logo Transparent.pngltimatumTransparent Swadloon.png 17:39, 28 January 2012 (EST)
