Boss is well known for being one of the top lower tier users in brawl.

Before rising to even greater fame in brawl, Boss was well known for being one of the better Dr. Mario's in melee.
His position within brawl
Since a few months after brawl was released, Boss has quickly become the top Luigi and the top Mario in competitive brawl. He is also quite a good team player teaming with Smasher:NinjaLink (as a Luigi + Rob or Pikachu Team), P_S (as a Luigi + Olimar team) and Smasher:Candy (for a Luigi + Snake team). Boss is well known for his contributions to the Luigi Metagame and the Mario metagame taking matches off some of the best people in brawl using lower tiered characters.

Boss also happens to play brawl+ very well as well, using Luigi similar to how he uses Luigi in brawl.
