Lyrics[edit]

Latin English[1]

Fire Emblem iter sine fine
Vadite eris sociis

Fire Emblem, companions walk
The endless path together.

Umbrae labantem invidiae
Ac sanguinans diritas
Villae hastam velavit ignibus ab aditus est

In the wavering shadow of spite,
Our home is faced by the oncoming spear,
Engulfed in flames.

Ego illam diem commemorabam
Nunc simul cum meis socii oriar

I keep that unforgettable day in my heart
And now rise up together with my companions.

Fire Emblem, nostrum vinculum numquam frangamur

Fire Emblem, our bond shall be never broken.

Ut relicum manendi consistimus
Insuper hastilium qui diem salvae

We hold fast to protect tomorrow
And the one who awaits our return.

Fire Emblem, ad insigne summato coheres lux

Fire Emblem, light gathers on the flag we unfurl.

Fire Emblem, multa stella
Suspicis tenens tuum ferro

Fire Emblem, we gaze upon the multitude of stars,
Gripping our blades.

Umbra terra haud quadam es aura adducere
Harenes adsurgus dium astra terram

If we do not bring light to the darkness in these lands,
The shooting stars will soar over a wasteland.

Fire Emblem, de illustra
Qui vallum oriens fulgebunt?

Fire Emblem, on whom does the morning sun shine
As she climbs over the edge of battle?

Origin[edit]

An orchestral rock remix of the Fire Emblem Heroes version of the "Fire Emblem Theme" from Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, which plays on the game's title screen. The song originally had Japanese lyrics and another version with English lyrics for overseas countries. Inverse to the Brawl remix, which added lyrics to an originally-instrumental song, this version is an instrumental take on a song that originally had lyrics, the lead vocals being replaced with an electric guitar and a violin. Fire Emblem Heroes will later give it the official English title of "Fire Emblem Main Theme (Heroes Ver.)".

Origin[edit]

This song is a dramatic orchestral remix of "Lost in Thoughts All Alone", the main theme of Fire Emblem Fates, prominently leading with brass and piano. It also incorporates "End of All" in the second half of the song, which is itself an arrangement of the main theme and serves as the final boss theme. It is rearranged by Masato Coda, one of the composers for the game (although he was not the composer of any of the themes featured).

Lyrics[edit]

English

You are the ocean's gray waves, destined to seek
Life beyond the shore just out of reach
Yet the waters ever change, flowing like time
The path is yours to climb

In the white light, a hand reaches through
A double-edged blade cuts your heart in two
Waking dreams fade away
Embrace the brand-new day

Sing with me a song of birthrights and love
The light scatters to the sky above
Dawn breaks through the gloom, white as a bone
Lost in thoughts all alone

Life is not just filled with happiness, nor sorrow
Even the thorn in your heart, in time, it may become a rose

Sing with me a song of silence and blood
The rain falls, but can't wash away the mud
Within my ancient heart dwells madness and pride
Can no one hear my cry?

You are the ocean's gray waves, destined to seek
Life beyond the shore just out of reach
Yet the waters ever change, flowing like time
The path is yours to climb
You are the ocean's gray waves

Lyrics[edit]

English

Faint lights pass through colored glass, in this beloved place
Silver shines, the world dines, a smile on each face

Reach for my hand, I'll soar away
Into the dawn, oh, I wish I could stay
Here in cherished halls, in peaceful days
I fear the edge of dawn knowing time betrays

Lyrics[edit]

English

Reach for my hand, I'll soar away
Into the dawn, oh, I wish I could stay
Here in cherished halls, in peaceful days
I fear the edge of dawn knowing time betrays

Faint lights pass through colored glass, in this beloved place
Silver shines, the world dines, a smile on each face

As joy surrounds, comfort abounds and I can feel I'm breaking free
For just this moment lost in time, I am finally me

Yet still I hide behind this mask that I have become
My blackened heart, scorched by flames, a force I can't run from

I look to you like a red rose
Seeking the sun no matter where it goes
I long to stay where the light dwells
To guard against the cold that I know so well

As the rain falls on the path, I chase your shadow
I don't feel a single drop or the ground below

Then you turn to me and I stop before I know
And the lie upon my lips, I let it go

Cross my heart, making vows I know will be betrayed
A sad girl's pleas live only for a breath, and then they fade

My dearest wish is that you'll know
These tender thoughts that only seem to grow
They are as snow, melting away
Yet seeking your warmth if only for a day

The blue moonlight cuts across our sight
As pure and clear as a ringing bell
Reaching for us in the night

As the wind calms my thoughts
I held strong on this terrace
I feel at peace, carried away by the wind's song

Open the door and walk away
Never give in to the call of yesterday
Memories that made those days sublime
These ruined halls entomb stolen time

Reach for my hand, I'll soar away
Into the dawn, oh, I wish I could stay
Here in cherished halls, in peaceful days
I fear the edge of dawn knowing time betrays

Trivia[edit]

As with the Japanese version, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the first time that the full English "Seasons of Warfare" version of "The Edge of Dawn" has appeared in a video game. This full version had previously been released as a single on digital storefronts.

Trivia[edit]

  • Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance is the only game in the Fire Emblem series where the Japanese version lists all of the song names in English. With the sole exception of "Victory Is Near" and "Power-Hungry Fool", the Super Smash Bros. series uses the Japanese names of these tracks even in the international versions.
  • The English version of Lost in Thoughts All Alone has Fire Emblem Fates listed as its origin, while the Japanese version has Fire Emblem: if (the game's Japanese title) listed as its origin. However, interestingly, both remixes of the track have Fire Emblem: if listed as their origin. The above holds no matter which language the game is set to.
  • Those Who Sow Darkness and The Spirit Dais from Fire Emblem: Three Houses are both used during Byleth's reveal trailer, although they don't appear in-game.
  • Gear Up For... is the first song to originate from a mobile game, namely Fire Emblem Heroes, preceding Earth from Minecraft Earth.
  • Discounting the "Others" section, Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy and Xenoblade Chronicles are the only base game universes to receive additional songs via downloadable content.
    • Because of this, Fire Emblem has the second highest amount of tracks after Mario, and it is one of the two universes alongside Xenoblade Chronicles to have all three types of music tracks: default, unlockable, and downloadable.
      • Unlike Final Fantasy and Xenoblade Chronicles, which both had their songs included in the base game repositioned to match the order they'd be first heard in their respective games after downloading their respective DLC songs, the DLC songs for Fire Emblem are not repositioned, though this is most likely because Fire Emblem: Three Houses had no songs included in the base game.
