A Floow (フロウス, Flows) is an enemy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl's Subspace Emissary mode which first appears in the Ruined Zoo level.
Appearance
When a Floow suddenly appears, it looks like a large, indefinite black cloud. After a brief time, it takes form as a slim and tall humanoid shape made of separate gray rectangles, with two small red eyes. The rectangles get more distant as Floow takes damage, thus enlonging his figure. Its trophy describes it as "a ghost patched with strips of darkness."
In the Subspace Emissary
A Floow's attack (some sort of scream or lament) is an extremely strong combo move that causes enormous damage output (from over 250% to nearly 300% on Intense if all hits chain) and immensely powerful knockback on the last hit. It is always an OHKO for any character, unless there is a ceiling or a cave of life to protect the player (since itsknockback is always vertical or nearly); ironically, Floows are mostly found in underground levels, such as caves or mines. It is possible for two Floows attacking at alternate times to trap a player, leaving him unharmed, or to attack together with a scream of invariable OHKO power (a one-hit attack that instantly inflicts from 28% on Easy to 140% on Intense, depending on the number of attacking enemies).
A single Floow's lament has more than enough power to OHKO on every difficulty; anyway, a Floow can use it more times in a row with an extremely brief pause, much less than two seconds on Intense. This makes the attack way more dangerous, even if the player is protected by a cave of life. The attack consists of seven consecutive hits of the same power, with the last inflicting heavy vertical knockback (it alone can KO around 30% on Intense). Damage seemingly increases by 7% per hit for every difficulty, except from Easy to Normal where the gap is 6% instead. The following list shows the maximum damage inflicted by this move for every difficulty, respectively for each hit and combined (assuming all hits connect):
- Easy: 15% per hit, 105% combined.
- Normal: 21% per hit, 147% combined.
- Hard: 28% per hit, 196% combined.
- Very Hard: 35% per hit, 245% combined.
- Intense: 42% per hit, 294% combined.
This attack is clearly one of the most damaging moves in absolute, only surpassed by Bucculus' kiss (which can deal 999%), Lugia’s Aeroblast and Tabuu's Rapid Chop and Bullet Rain on Intense difficulty, but beating several other strong moves, such as Shaydas' combo attack or Rayquaza's Lightning Strike (which can easily surpass 200% though). Anyway, this move can become even more powerful if multiple Floows attack in group, since they can trap the player and hit multiple times together: a combined attack of four Floows on Intense difficulty can inflict 999% damage in less than three seconds, making it the most powerful move ever in damage terms, along with Bucculus' kiss but way faster (over 300% per second). Three Floows can deal the same amount in roughly four seconds, while two enemies will have to attack in turn in order to trap the player, delaying this time up to about six seconds. Notice that each attack lasts for slightly less than two seconds approximately.
As said before, Floows can also join their power to launch a single, extremely powerful scream, which is an OHKO on every difficulty as well and has only one hit. The following list shows the damage inflicted by this move for every difficulty, depending on how many Floows attack together:
- Easy: 28% (two Floows), 38% (three Floows), 57% (four Floows).
- Normal: 38% (two Floows), 57% (three Floows), 77% (four Floows).
- Hard: 56% (two Floows), 80% (three Floows), 99% (four Floows).
- Very Hard: 77% (two Floows), 101% (three Floows), 120% (four Floows).
- Intense: 94% (two Floows), 120% (three Floows), 140% (four Floows).
When four Floows combine their cry, the resulting attack is the second most damaging single-hit move ever, beside the Ultimate Chimera's bite, Odin's slash (random) and Tabuu's Off Waves on Intense (which can reach 200%).
A particular annoyance of the Floow is its ability to steadily regain health, although it cannot move or attack while healing. The required time for a complete healing varies with the difficulty: from four seconds on Easy to less than two seconds on Intense. Floows can be turned into a trophy with the use of a trophy stand at very low health, but precise aiming and timing may be required as the Floows float around. Floows are also completely immune to absorbable attacks; such attacks will simply vanish on contact and not do anything.
Name origin
Its name is a corruption of the word "flow", which describes the way it moves.

Trophy Description
An enemy that might be described as a ghost patched with strips of darkness. A Floow will float in the air and attack nastily from behind. Harboring pent-up resentment, a Floow's cries reveal one part sadness, one part madness. This especially hits home when gazing into its ghastly red eyes. After taking a certain amount of damage, a Floow will disappear.
