Requesting permission to use information

Salutations! My name is Follower of Light, and I am the most active editor on The Dragon Quest wiki . Due to recent events, I would like to humbly request permission to use the information presented on this site in regards to the Luminary and the other Dragon Quest aspects that will appear in Ultimate this summer. While it might be standard NIWA practice to share and share alike, I want to be as professional about this as humanly possible and get permission before copying any templates and such. As your name was the first to appear on the active administrators page, I felt it would be the best place to start; if this is the wrong page to post about this kind of thing, please direct me to the right avenue whenever is convenient for you. This edit

I know I have no right to actually confront you for this, but I would like to express my personal belief that the linked edit was inappropriate and a violation of SW:1RV. You being an admin does not give you the right to make the final decision without bringing it to discussion first. The original reversion had a perfectly legitimate reason and that user deserves to be given the chance to defend his stance instead of it being immediately removed because you decided your opinion was better. TheNuttyOne 16:47, 3 March 2019 (EST)

I'm well aware that I am not the final say. And while I will fully admit to breaking 1RV (it's a poor habit that I wish to break), it was not, nor was it ever, my intention to shoot anything down because I thought my opinion was better. You of all people should know this. Aidan, the Irish Rurouni 16:50, 3 March 2019 (EST)
I think that content probably violates SW:SPEC anyway, so I'd say you were probably justified in reverting it. Although the biggest problem with 1RV is it doesn't make it very clear under which conditions it applies so idrk... Alex the Jigglypuff trainer 16:55, 3 March 2019 (EST)
It violating SPEC is also why I reverted. Aidan, the Irish Rurouni 16:58, 3 March 2019 (EST)
There. Happy? Aidan, the Irish Rurouni 17:01, 3 March 2019 (EST)

Question

Hello Aidanzapunk. I was hoping that you would be able to help me understand something onmy talk page. I was told not to use certain character art by another admin, but I did not fully grasp what they meant by their word choices on it. And has yet to get back to me on the matter. Would you be able to help me understand what they meant, at least for the time being? I would like to clear my confusion. Thank you Wolff (talk) 21:26, 3 March 2019 (EST)

(You can replay on my talk page if you prefer) Wolff (talk) 21:27, 3 March 2019 (EST)

Technically, SW:TALK prevents me from replying to this on your talk page. I can, however, comment on the section Miles left for you. Aidan, the Irish Rurouni 22:34, 3 March 2019 (EST)
Thank you. What I had meant by "replying" was just continuing the previous conversation on the other page, which you did. Thanks again, I believe I now understand what I hadn't before. Wolff (talk) 21:08, 8 March 2019 (EST)

New Page Name

I have a question regarding F.L.U.D.D. . He is a character that is part of another character's moveset that doesn't have their own page that's separate to their character's move page. Other characters that appear as part of a move that has their own page are Toad, Beat, Rush, Lloid, Madama Butterfly, and Pikmin. So do other characters that appear in Final Smashes (Ness', Lucas', Shulk's, Villiger's/Isabelle's Mega Man's). My main question is that F.L.U.D.D. currently uses his regular name to refer to Mario's move, should the move page be renamed to "F.L.U.D.D. (Move)" or should his character page be named "F.L.U.D.D. (Character), or both? Wolff (talk) 21:48, 8 March 2019 (EST)

About my talk page

Plz leave me alone I don’t always check my talk page so I don’t always know if I’m violating the rules, also your comments are very derogatory and I feel like I am being bullied by you. Please consider your actions next time you leave a comment on my talk page. Dab Squad Leader (talk) 16:40, March 11, 2019 (EDT)

Not Aidan, but his comments, although somewhat harsh, aren't necessarily derogatory; he is mostly just warning you about things you do, and when you don't stop, he simply adds a harsher warning. SugarCookie 420 16:51, March 11, 2019 (EDT)

I just think he could use kinder words when expressing his opinions because sometimes I don’t see it, then I get banned for a week and don’t know why. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dab Squad Leader (talkcontribs) 16:55, March 11, 2019‎

Do you not receive a notification on SmashWiki when your talk page gets edited? I believe all users do, but there may be exceptions that I do not know. SugarCookie 420 16:58, March 11, 2019 (EDT)

Im afraid I don’t, I find out either by checking the recent edits or by suddenly discovering that I am restricted form editing pages. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dab Squad Leader (talkcontribs) 17:02, March 11, 2019‎

Huh, well I don't really know how to fix this problem. Maybe try placing your talk page into your watch list? SugarCookie 420 17:08, March 11, 2019 (EDT)

It already is, but I will try to check regularly. Thanks for your feedback!

I apologize if I came off as harsh, because I can't really tell myself how my words are coming off to other people; I will admit that I was intentionally firm, but only because my first warning seemingly didn't get across.
In regards to your talk page, you should get an automatic notification on the website once you load it up that someone has left a message for you. If you're using the mobile version, then that might be why you're not getting it (I don't use the mobile layout, so I wouldn't know).
Finally, please sign your talk page comments with ~~~~. Aidan, the Irish Rurouni 17:57, March 11, 2019 (EDT)

Where did you get it and what did it look like? I have an idea for something probably related to this, and was curious where you could've gotten it. SugarCookie 420 17:27, April 1, 2019 (EDT)

All of my symbols, with the exception of Phoenix Wright's and Shovel Knight's, are actually custom-made; I may use an image to base it off of (such as this as the basis for this, and a manga panel that I cannot find for this), but I do custom-make my symbols via Pixlr. The exceptions are Ace Attorney and Shovel Knight, because I got the Shovel Knight one from Smashified, and someone on this wiki originally uploaded the Ace Attorney symbol, though I don't remember who.
In reference to Star's symbol, however, I based it off of the star on her wand (in its Season 1 form). Don't remember the exact picture I based it off of, but I do still have the original file saved elsewhere if you would like to use it. Aidan, the Springing Rurouni 21:10, April 1, 2019 (EDT)
I can take a look at it, sure. SugarCookie 420 21:24, April 1, 2019 (EDT)

Extra images on Pokemon pages

I see you deleted the images I tagged for deletion. The reason I did that was because I think the extra images cause clutter, especially because most Pokeball Pokemon pages already lack text and the images push each other around and mess with the headers. Before I continue I just wanted to get some approval or consensus, and possibly some more help from you. Thank you. Blue Ninjakoopa 22:30, April 9, 2019 (EDT)

The original art was/is considered acceptable. Only the sprites should/could probably be deleted. Wolff (talk) 22:49, April 9, 2019 (EDT)
Per our discussion I'll undo all my edits and remove all the delete tags. Wolff, you'll have to re-upload the Porygon artwork. I'll keep the tags on the sprites though; I think they're kind of redundant with the artwork. Blue Ninjakoopa 22:58, April 9, 2019 (EDT)

Many Thanks

Good morning, Aidanzapunk. I would like to personally thank you for your contribution to the Tough Guy article. As the one who first created the page, you have my thanks. I am currently conducting further tests to what moves trigger Tough Guy in Ultimate. If you or anyone has details of moves from Smash 4 that trigger Tough Guy, any additions would be much appreciated. Thecontributor22 (talk) 11:18, April 23, 2019 (EDT)

Yea, no problem. It seemed weird to me that there were extra columns, so I just figured I'd fix it. Aidan, the Springing Rurouni 11:33, April 23, 2019 (EDT)

Poison Breath proof

I think I have proof of the Piranha Plant thing I've mentioned. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpGtWmv2GPw This is from Ver. 2.0.0. Skip to 1:33, and you'll see what I mean. Juju1995 (talk) 13:42, April 28, 2019 (EDT)

Alright, that's fair. Aidan, the Rurouni 13:43, April 28, 2019 (EDT)

Voice actor trivia

How come the this voice actor trivia is notable? I can understand the Chrom being in Yusuke Kitagawa spirit battle being a notable reference, but I thought general voice actor trivia wasn’t allowed. At what point would it be considered notable, because I don’t understand why doing a fan project would be notable (unless there’s something I’m missing). Lou Cena (talk) 22:45, May 4, 2019 (EDT)

Voice actor trivia is, generally, an all or nothing kind of thing. We've had an issue in the past because there have been a few voice actor connections that have attempted to make their way as trivia points (i.e., the fact that Captain Falcon and Dunban share a Japanese actor), but Joker was the first exception, solely because of the fact that he's voiced by the announcer (a first for the series) - Roy's connection was kept because it was relevant to that fact. Chrom and Yusuke's connection, as I said, is much more than a simple sharing of actors, as Chrom was likely chosen to represent Yusuke likely because of the connection, making it a full on reference to it (slightly unrelated, but even Matt Mercer has commented on the connection, making it all the more likely that it was intentional).
Specifically in regards to There Will Be Brawl, though, it's an interesting story: TWBB was a fanmade project, but it was the start of Matt's acting career, and after booking the part of a major Nintendo character, was able to later be in a Smash game. TWBB was also popular for its time (at least, to my knowledge - I didn't know about it, but that's because I personally got into the Smash series late). Aidan, the Rurouni 00:05, May 5, 2019 (EDT)

Question about deleting my former IP’s talk page

Before making this account, I operated using an IP address. I moved everything from my IP address’s talk page over to User talk:Lou Cena, but I’m questioning if I should flag it for deletion. I doubt that anybody who tries to edit under the same IP would want to have talk page posts directed to me on it. Am I allowed to flag it for deletion? Lou Cena (talk) 18:22, May 5, 2019 (EDT)

Regardless of how likely you think it is that someone under the same IP would see that talk page, there's a notice on any IP talk page that says:
An icon used in notice templates. This is an IP's talk page. While it's not a requirement to have a username, those that do not can only be recognized by their IP address, which can change over time and/or be assigned to an unrelated user; they can even be shared by multiple users. If this talk page belongs to your IP but its comments are intended for someone else, you may want to login or create an account to eliminate future confusion.
And even if it was unlikely, I'm pretty sure SW:TALK disallows me to delete that talk page. Aidan, the Rurouni 19:10, May 5, 2019 (EDT)

User page

Hello, I am new a few days ago; but I cannot create my userpage, how is it possible? Derekblue1 (talk) 22:44, May 26, 2019 (EDT)

Not Aiden, but currently because of the wiki status, you need to be autoconfirmed to create new pages. To be autoconfirmed, you need to make 10 edits and have a week-old account. CookiesCnC Signature.pngCreme 23:08, May 26, 2019 (EDT)
Thanks! That sounds fair enough. Derekblue1 (talk) 23:30, May 26, 2019 (EDT)

Adding Pages

I was wondering, there is nothing that says we can't add as meany pages as we want on this Wiki. But would we be able to create over 80 at once? I feel as though over 15 new pages at once needs approval from a few admins, so that it is not a hassle for them to delete them if they were to deem it unnecessary. As an admin, what are your thoughts about creating over 80 pages at once? Wolff (talk) 20:42, May 30, 2019 (EDT)

If you mean in an instantaneous way, creating multiple pages at once is an impossible task. Secondly, refresh my memory, as I have not particularly been able to participate in the discussion you have linked me to: what exactly is that forum for? Is that the one in regards to separating or merging moves that are similar to one another? Aidan, the Rurouni 22:29, May 30, 2019 (EDT)
It is to discuss how the special moves should be categorized on the wiki. Should moves that have the name share a page, or should moves with different animations be separated? I'm hoping for it to be by name. My question stemmed from an idea someone thought of where every special move is separated regardless of the reason. However, that would result in over 80 pages being created. I wanted to make sure with an admin if that possibility would have been accepted before action was taken and they gone though with it. However, I had asked before Miles said that he didn't think that would be a good idea. I didn't either. Thank you for responding though. Wolff (talk) 23:18, May 30, 2019 (EDT)
Moves that share a same name, ability, and concept (Super Jump Punch, Blaster, Counter, etc.) should share a page - however, two moves that share a name but belong to different characters, regardless of how similar they are (for example, the Fire Emblem Counter vs. Palutena's Counter), should get separate pages. But asking one admin is a slippery slope - I'm just one of the staff, and I do not speak for all of them, but I can voice my opinion on the matter. 80 pages is utterly ridiculous. Aidan, the Rurouni 00:27, May 31, 2019 (EDT)
I know you are just one of the staff, I just thought the idea of over 80 pages needed to known by them. Wolff (talk) 00:55, May 31, 2019 (EDT)

MM IP Block

I could be wrong, but isn't giving IPs indefinite blocks frowned upon? Alex the Jigglypuff trainer 16:42, June 2, 2019 (EDT)

Not if they're circumventing an existing block. Aidan, the Rurouni 17:19, June 2, 2019 (EDT)
I know, but just going off what I'm seeing in the block log, it looks like the same applies in those cases too. Alex the Jigglypuff trainer 17:27, June 2, 2019 (EDT)
A ban evasion is means for an infinite block - if you don't want to take my word for it, take Serpent King's. Aidan, the Rurouni 17:30, June 2, 2019 (EDT)
So I took another look at the block log, and er...

13:47, 5 April 2019 Serpent King (talk | contribs) blocked 31.49.71.198 (talk) with an expiry time of 1 week (anonymous users only, account creation disabled) (circumventing existing block: mm sock)

00:14, 4 April 2019 Serpent King (talk | contribs) blocked 5.81.71.60 (talk) with an expiry time of 1 month (anonymous users only, account creation disabled) (circumventing existing block: MM3 sock)

I don't want to put words in his mouth, so I'm just going to leave it at that. Also this will probably be my last message on the subject, as I don't particularly want to get into a debate about something like this. Alex the Jigglypuff trainer 17:35, June 2, 2019 (EDT)

I’m going to have to agree with Alex on this. Somebody else may end up using the IP address only to find that they’ve been infinitely banned. Also, Memoryman comes by with a new sockpuppet every week, the amount of time he’s being banned for means nothing to him. Lou Cena (talk) 19:14, June 2, 2019 (EDT)

Would listing Echo Fighters’ position compared to their base fighters on tier lists be speculation?

Daisy, Dark Samus, and Richter are all near-universally agreeed to not be ranked separately from their base character, and Ken, Chrom, and Lucina have all been considered too different when compared to the former three. The only grey area is Dark Pit. So if I added this info to the clone or tier list page, would that be considered speculation, or not because it’s common agreement? Lou Cena (talk) 19:14, June 2, 2019 (EDT)

Given the noticeable lack of a tier list for Ultimate, I'd wait on including that at all - though, for future reference (i.e., when we do get a tier list), then it wouldn't be speculation to list which clones are or aren't (one or the other) listed separately from their parent. (As for Dark Pit, one should note that he was ranked alongside his goody two shoes self in Smash 4's tier list.) Aidan, the Rurouni 19:55, June 2, 2019 (EDT)
