Piranha Plant (パックンフラワー, Packun Flower) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It was confirmed as a playable character alongside Ken and Incineroar on November 1, 2018. It will be the first DLC character in Ultimate, and is scheduled to release "probably a couple of months" after the game's December 7, 2018 launch. It will be available as a free bonus until January 31, 2019 to anyone who pre-purchases the digital version of Ultimate or registers their physical version with My Nintendo. It is not part of the Fighters Pass, but will be available for purchase separately after the January 31st date.
Moves and Aesthetics
This is the known moveset for Piranha Plant, in order based on the reveal trailer and character showcase:
- Pummel: bites the opponent
- Up throw: bites the opponent upward
- Forward throw: Headbutts the opponent away
- Dash attack: Jumps forward and hits the opponent with its pot
- Forward smash: Transforms into a Spiky Piranha Plant and swipes its head
- Down smash: Swings its pot in a circle on the ground
- Up smash: Bites upward
- A reference to what it does in the main Mario series games, presumably one of its taunts
- Spins around in a circle in the air, hitting multiple times, presumably one of its aerial attacks
- A move where it spits a cloud of poison in front of it, dealing damage with seemingly no knockback or flinching. Possibly its Side special
- A move where Piranha plant spits out a metal spike ball, and blows air upwards. The ball can then be blown to the left or right. It's unknown if the windbox affects other players or not. It also seems that only 1 can be active at a time. Possibly its Neutral special
- Up special: Spins its leaves, propelling him upward like a helicopter
- Forward aerial: Swings its pot upward
- Down aerial: Thrusts its pot downward, presumably a powerful spike
- A move where Piranha Plant pauses briefly before stretching out to bite an opponent, possibly a Down special move
- Final Smash: Summons Petey Piranha.

- Piranha Plant is the first newcomer in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to have all its alternate costumes shown in its reveal trailer.
- Piranha Plant is the second fully playable character to utilize plant-based attacks, after Ivysaur.
