Victory posesEdit

Thanks for putting the gifs on the victory poses page for the Ultimate roster and for that, we welcome you to the wiki! Dragonfirebreath25 (talk) 10:40, 31 January 2019 (EST)

No problem... but is there any chance you know why some of the ones I've been uploading haven't been showing up? Over where the gifs should be are instead messages that say "Error creating thumbnail..." I don't know why this is happening but I hope there is some way to fix it. Mikoro (talk) 17:12, 31 January 2019 (EST)

Regarding this topic, I'm going to copy-paste a message I posted on the talk page of another user (who did not respond):

I noticed that you're uploading gifs of Ultimate victory poses. This is good, but the way you're naming these files ("Ultimate Pose 1", etc.) does not give any information about which directional input triggers them, which is going to be necessary information for documentation. While this was overlooked for the Smash 4 gifs, I think it should be done the same way as Brawl, so that documenting each victory pose's directional input is easier. I wrote about this on the talk page.

I don't mean to discourage you from doing it, it's just that the information on victory poses is a lot more useful when their inputs are known, otherwise they will all have to be re-checked anyway. Dr. HyperCake (talk) 18:16, 31 January 2019 (EST)

Well can't an administrator just rename them? Also you didn't really answer my question about the error messages... I noticed that a few of them fixed themselves, but not all of them, do you know what could be done to fix this issue? And unless you're specifically telling me not to, I'm going to keep uploading the poses with the same names that I have been for consistency's sake, and if need be, an administrator can change their names afterward. Mikoro (talk) 18:20, 31 January 2019 (EST)
There's no point in being consistent with the current convention; it's uninformative and arbitrary. Unless the numbers you're adding actually correspond to an input, they are literally random. It means someone will have to go through 200+ victory poses and check which input they are in-game, simply because it wasn't done in the first place.
Regarding your question about the error, I didn't intend to answer it. This is a separate issue which is related to the section topic. Dr. HyperCake (talk) 18:42, 31 January 2019 (EST)
Please be sure also to categorize the images you upload. Refer to one of the other games' VP image sets to learn what category to put the images in. To add a category, you need only put [[Category:<name>]] in the description of the upload form.
Also the error you are seeing is most likely because you are going over the wiki's megapixel limit (megapixels are width*height*number of frames). Depending on how hard it would be to correct this (what is your retrieval method btw), I might be able to get that limit raised. Serpent   King 18:24, 31 January 2019 (EST)
What do you mean by "retrieval method"? Mikoro (talk) 18:27, 31 January 2019 (EST)
The error is a timeout thing, they will start working now. The pixel limit actually has been raised also ;) --Porplemontage (talk) 18:28, 31 January 2019 (EST)
Thanks for that... but do I really have to go back through every pose I uploaded and add the category in? Mikoro (talk) 18:30, 31 January 2019 (EST)
I would appreciate it, yes. By retrieval method, I mean the means you get these. Serpent   King 18:32, 31 January 2019 (EST)
I use my capture card to record footage (which can only make MP4s), then use an online program to convert said MP4s to GIFs. Mikoro (talk) 18:34, 31 January 2019 (EST)

GliscorEdit

Gliscor is a very de-saturated purple, almost grey. Purple Lucario is a very deep purple, and none of the other colors match. You've added Gliscor multiple times which can be considered edit warring. --CanvasK (talk) 20:47, May 20, 2022 (EDT)

Just because the colors are a little off doesn't mean that it's unreasonable to assume that it is indeed a basis. And besides, "resemble" and "exactly resemble" are two different terms; the former means to look at least somewhat alike, not completely, which is what the latter means. Mikoro (talk) 21:20, May 20, 2022 (EDT)
They aren't "a little off", Gliscor is almost periwinkle and purple Lucario is a deep purple in Smash 4 and Ultimate. Weezing and Crobat are closer. It is a much closer match in Brawl, but the other games are too different. --CanvasK (talk) 21:35, May 20, 2022 (EDT)
It's not just the colors though, it's also their placements; no other Pokémon have purple skin with a red torso/fur. I think you're being a bit too particular here. Mikoro (talk) 22:15, May 20, 2022 (EDT)
Forretress is almost as close. Most of the alts for Pokémon have a much stronger connection, such as being the same type or family, with the exception of pink Greninja and Lickitung (tongue-centric) and purple Mewtwo and Shadow Lugia (close match but I'd argue it is debatable). Regardless, you added it multiple times after it was removed instead of taking it to the talk pages. --CanvasK (talk) 22:50, May 20, 2022 (EDT)
