Here is the character concept page for Arle, as the playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Erica Mendez, Arle's English voice actress from Puyo Puyo Tetris onward, reprises her role in the English version of Ultimate. In Japanese, Arle is voiced by Mie Sonozaki, her voice actress from Puyo Puyo Fever onward.

AttributesEdit

Arle is a short, middleweight character. She has slightly above average walking speed, dash speed, gravity and air acceleration, while also possessing average traction and falling speed. Being a sorceress herself, Arle has a variety of projectiles, much like Robin and Hero, but also utilize them for some of standard attacks in a similar vein to Mega Man, making her attacks unconventional.

Down tilt   3% A crouching thin kick, similar to Terry. Deals extremely low damage, but is very spammable due to low lag.
Dash attack   4% (hit 1), 7% (hit 1 aerial), 2% (hit 2), 4% (hit 3) A double palm thrust that sends three sparks out in front of her, similar to Ness.
Forward smash Fireball (ファイヤー, Fire) 11%-15% Arle fires a flaming energy ball, similar to Mega Man. The longer it is charged, the further the resulting shot will go, and its size, damage, and knockback also increase significantly when it is fully charged. Based on one of Arle's ability in the Madou Monogatari and appears as one of her spells in every Puyo Puyo installments.
Up smash Thunderbolt (サンダー, Thunder) 6% (hits 1-4), 8% (hits 5) Arle fires a electric spark upwards, similar to Mewtwo. It works best as an anti-air option. Based on one of Arle's ability in the Madou Monogatari and appears as one of her spells in Puyo Puyo Fever.
Down smash Wind Kick (風神脚, Wind God Kick) 11% (both hits) Arle performs a legsweep in front and back of her, similar to Samus/Dark Samus. Based on one of Rulue's techniques.
Neutral aerial Explosion (エクスプロージョン) 15% Arle creates a fiery explosion, akin to a Bob-omb. Based on one of Schezo and Amitie's techniques.
Forward aerial Cyclone (サイクロワール, Cyclowhirl) 12% Generates a gale in front of her, possessing a slight push effect. Based on one of Amitie's technique.
Back aerial Hot (ホット) 6% Arle fires a shot that deals flame damage.
Up aerial Judgement (じゅげむ) 4% (hits 1-4) Creates multiple small explosions, similar to her neutral aerial. Based on one of Arle's ability in the Madou Monogatari and appears as one of her spells in most Puyo Puyo games.

Neutral special [[Ice Storm (アイスストーム)]] 4%-20% Arle fires a large, blue snowflake, which can freeze the opponent on contact, similar to the Ice Climbers' Blizzard and Lucas' PK Freeze. Can be charged and is charge-cancelable; the longer it is charged, the longer the opponent will freeze without button mashing. Based on one of Arle's ability in the Madou Monogatari and appears as one of her spells in every Puyo Puyo installments.
Side special [[Mind Blast (ブレインダムド, Braindumbed]] 3%-15% (projectile), 1% (flower, up to 29% without button mashing) Arle fires a large, orange beam that can stun the opponent on contact, similar to Mewtwo's Disable. Much like Ice Storm, the move can be charged and is charge-cancelable, allowing for stun the opponent slightly longer. When it is fully charged, the move will also inflict flower on the opponent. Based on one of Arle's ability in the Madou Monogatari and appears as one of her spells in every Puyo Puyo installments except the original Puyo Puyo and Puyo Puyo Fever.
Up special [[Heaven's Ray (ヘブンレイ, Heaven Ray)]] 3% (Arle), 5% (light) Can be described as a combination of Lucario's Extreme Speed and Palutena's Heavenly Light in Smash 4; Arle jumps up, while being covered by large pillar of light, dealing slight damage on any opponent within the light. Based on one of Arle's ability in the Waku Waku Puyo Puyo Dungeon and appears as one of spells in every installments since Puyo Puyo Fever, with the exception of Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary.
Down special [[Diacute (ダイアキュート)]] N/A Increases the damage and knockback of Arle's next attack by ×1.2, similar to Hero's Psyche Up, although it can affect all attacks. Effect can be stacked up to 3 times and lasts for 10 seconds for each use, although it resets entirely if an attack is executed. Based on one of Arle's ability in the Madou Monogatari and appears as one of her spells in every Puyo Puyo installments.
Final Smash [[Bayoen (ばよえ〜ん)]] 3% (stun), 5% (cutscene), 12% (final hit) Stuns the opponent with an illusion of flower, triggering a cutscene, rains a collection of planets, stars and lots of Puyo, finish with a large Nuisance Puyo. Based on one of Arle's ability in the Madou Monogatari and appears as one of her spells in every Puyo Puyo installments.

  • Up: Points toward the opponent while smiling and says, "Come on!" (勝負だ!) Based on one of the poses she assume during cutscenes in Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary, Puyo Puyo Tetris and Puyo Puyo Chronicle.
  • Side: Carbuncle appears and cries.
  • Down: Does a peace sign in her right hand and says "Heh heh!" Based on the pose she assumes when entering Fever Mode in Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary and Puyo Puyo Chronicle.

  • Up: Spins around and stretch her right arm upwards, saying "Victory!" (大勝利!) Based on her victory pose in Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary.
  • Right: Jumps around while raising her arm, and flicks her finger. The finish pose is similar to her official artwork in Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary.

Arle's opponents are based off of other characters from the Puyo Puyo series. Additionally, each stage represents the event, or main settings of all mainline Puyo Puyo games (excluding the first two anniversary titles and Puyo Puyo Champions).

3 Corrin  , Greninja  , and Rosalina & Luma   Tortimer Island Let's play with a rival! Represents Draco Centauros, Suketoudara and Witch, the other three prominent characters from the Compile era. The stage represents Puyo Puyo Sun, which involving a "summer" theme.
4 Zelda  , Daisy   and Villager   Primp Town The Untrained Demon King Ultimate Legend Represents Primp, the continent introduced in Puyo Puyo Fever. The opponents are based on Amitie, Raffina and Sig, the protagonists of the series.
5 Lucina   and Shulk   Onett Faceoff in Puyopuyo World! ~ Magical Confrontation! Represents the Earth, the main setting of Puyo Puyo 7 and Puyo Puyo Tetris. The opponents are based on Ringo Ando and Tee.
6 Peach   Paper Mario Domination Represents the book in Puyo Puyo Chronicle, which act as the game's main setting. Peach representing Ally, the other main character of Puyo Puyo Chronicle.
Bonus Stage
Final Arle (purple costume) Unova Pokémon League (Ω form) Last Decisive Battle? Represents the final battle of Puyo Puyo~n, with the other Arle having the palette of Doppelganger Arle. If the player uses the Doppelganger Arle costume, the default Arle takes her place.

  • Several of Arle's line are derived from her home series:
    • Her "It's my turn!" line during her on-screen appearance is taken from Puyo Puyo Champions, plays on the character selection screen when she is selected. Its Japanese counterpart originates from the ending of the original Puyo Puyo, and is used in Puyo Puyo Tsu and Puyo Puyo~n when a battle starts, as well as in Puyo Puyo Sun and Puyo Puyo Fever onward in the character selection screen.
    • Two of her Japanese victory lines are taken from Puyo Puyo Tetris and Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary respectively, with the English version using its corresponding localizations from Puyo Puyo Tetris and Puyo Puyo Champions.
    • When Arle is blast KO'd, she occasionally says "Uh-oh..." (ばたんきゅ〜, Zonked...), referencing her defeat quote in Puyo Puyo Champions. Its Japanese counterpart has been used in the series since the original Puyo Puyo.
