WAVE Champions 5 was a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate superregional held in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, on October 22nd, 2023.
The tournament was on the verge of cancellation as, with six days left before the tournament began, only 28 players had registered for the event. In response, the tournament organizers released a Tweet stating that the tournament would be cancelled if it did not reach 64 entrants by October 19th. Following the Tweet, many players registered for the event, including Shuton and KEN, leading this event to become a LumiRank B-tier within three days.
