Gekokujo 9 was a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate regional held in Ota, Japan on August 10th, 2024.

Tournament SummaryEdit

The tournament was won by Reno, the third seed of the event. Reno had a difficult path to victory. Reno managed to get out of group stage in Winner's by defeating Outotsut, the 30th seed of the event, in a game 5 set. Reno proceeded to defeat both Gorisin (19th seed) and Yuzha (11th seed) 3-1 before beating Gachipi (2nd seed) 3-0 in Winner's Semi-Final. Reno would lose to ElleGo (4th seed) 1-3 in Winner's Finals. Reno would then defeat Gachipi again in, Loser's Finals (3-2) and then defeat ElleGo in both the reset and in Grand Finals, 3-0.

Notably, the event's 1st seed, Lax would fail to make top 8. Lax finished 13th after losing in the group stage to Amopope (32nd seed) 1-3 and in loser's to Rattsu (20th seed) 2-3.

Amopope had one of the surprise runs of the event, by finishing 9th after upsetting the aforementioned Lax and Hororo (17th seed). Hororo has a surprise run to 7th by defeating Fuusui (16th seed) and kazuhito (10th seed). Finally, Yuzha managed to place 4th after upsetting Marcos (6th seed) and Nako (9th seed).
