I vote we get rid of the categorization of 'technique'... it's simply another type of attack - Ashran111 02:43, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- Well, it's a really, really basic technique. More than just hitting a button, I guess? FyreNWater - (Talk • Contributions ) 06:56, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

TimingEdit
Does anyone know the frame window between tapping a direction and pressing attack for a Smash Attack to occur? Does it vary by character and/or direction? Would be useful information to add to the article. ♡FirstaLasto♥ 23:37, 3 July 2014 (EDT)
- Well, I know that in Brawl, you have to push the stick 80% sideways in 5 frames to f-smash, and 66.25% vertically in 4 frames to u/d-smash, but I can't find how long after that you can press the attack button to get a smash attack. I think with f-smash it can be anytime before dash turns into run, and for u-smash it can be anytime before you jump off the ground, but for d-smash I have no idea. - So it does vary by character then? It's based around the animation lengths? If its the jump animation for up and the dash animation for side, its probably the duck animation for down. ♡FirstaLasto♥ 01:56, 4 July 2014 (EDT)
KnockbackEdit
So I already know that charging a smash attack increases its base knockback, but does it increase the scaling? - Drilly Dilly (talk) 22:12, 2 September 2015 (EDT)
More knockback if counter-hit during one?Edit
Mythsmashers a la One Hit Smash released another Mythsmashers video. https://youtu.be/ctBTci-5nAk?t=38s Turns out if you counter hit someone while they're charging their smash attack, they'll suffer more knockback. Can this be true for all other games and thus, is that the other reason why spamming smash attacks are normally unsafe? --SneaselSawashiro (talk) 20:14, 3 August 2016 (EDT)
