The following is a list of all on-screen appearances in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Pichu and Young Link received new on-screen appearances due to their absences in Brawl and SSB4, since this feature was absent in Melee.
Banjo & KazooieEdit
- Banjo hops out of a dark Jiggy silhouette with Kazooie visible, and then the duo both bow twice.
BayonettaEdit
- Emerges from her Bat Within form and produces a purple symbol that represents Umbra Witch magic.
BowserEdit
- Emerges from a wall of flames hunched over, before standing upright.
Bowser Jr.Edit
- Flies onto the stage in the Junior Clown Car and makes a face.
BylethEdit
- Warps onto the stage using warp magic and poses with a pointer in hand, before putting the pointer away and pulling out the Sword of the Creator.
Captain FalconEdit
- The Blue Falcon spins to a stop, Captain Falcon jumps out, and then the Blue Falcon speeds off. The animation differs depending on which direction he is facing; when facing right, he simply climbs out, while when facing left, he somersaults while doing so.
ChromEdit
- Warps onto the stage using warp magic, and pulls his sword out of the ground.
CloudEdit
- Falls out of the sky and catches his Buster Sword or Fusion Sword, depending on the costume.
CorrinEdit
- Falls onto the stage in dragon form, then transforms into human form.
DaisyEdit
- Appears spinning out of a shower of flower petals and enthusiastically waves to the camera, yelling "Yo-ooo!" (her quote when overtaking a player in Mario Kart 8).
Dark PitEdit
- Appears onstage from a beam of darkness from the sky.
Dark SamusEdit
- Warps onto the stage from a dark portal.
Diddy KongEdit
- Breaks out of a DK Barrel, clapping.
Donkey KongEdit
- Breaks out of a DK Barrel, making a pose.
Dr. MarioEdit
- Megavitamins fall to the ground, and Dr. Mario appears when they recede. Based on a Megavitamin chain from Dr. Mario.
Duck HuntEdit
- The dog jumps onto the stage from the foreground into some 8-bit grass, then does his infamous laugh.
FalcoEdit
- Ejects from an upside-down Arwing.
FoxEdit
- Ejects from an Arwing.
GanondorfEdit
- Emerges from a portal of dark magic. Based on how Phantom Ganon emerges from similar dark portals in his boss fight in Ocarina of Time.
GreninjaEdit
- Emerges from a Poké Ball and does a ninja pose.
HeroEdit
- Flies onto the stage using Zoom, then raises their sword.
Ice ClimbersEdit
- The condor flies in with them hanging from his feet, then they jump off, and give each other a high-five.
IkeEdit
- Warps onto the stage using warp magic, then slashes his sword.
IncineroarEdit
- Emerges from a Poké Ball and makes a wrestling pose.
InklingEdit
- Lands with a splash of ink in squid form before transforming back, then flaps both arms excitedly before drawing the Splattershot. This is directly based on the Inklings' entrance animation from the series' single-player campaigns.
IsabelleEdit
- Exits out of the Town Hall and cheers to the camera.
JigglypuffEdit
- Emerges from a Poké Ball, then does a short, bouncy dance.
JokerEdit
- Drops from the top of the screen, similar to how battle encounters begin in Persona 5 that start with Bullet Hail, then tightens a glove like in his up taunt.
KazuyaEdit
- Appears from a cloud of dark flames as Devil Kazuya. He folds his arms, then reverts to human form and assumes his fighting stance.
KenEdit
- Walks onto the stage from some mist in the background, then gets into a fighting stance saying "I'm ready for ya! Bring it on!" (his intro quote from Street Fighter IV).
King DededeEdit
- Is carried in on a palanquin by four Waddle Dees, then jumps off, scattering them.
King K. RoolEdit
- Drops from the sky with his arms crossed, before making a chuckle similar to (but not identical to) his Final Smash. His pose is based on how he appears in Donkey Konga.
KirbyEdit
- Crash-lands a Warp Star to the ground.
LinkEdit
- Glides using the Paraglider onto the stage.
Little MacEdit
- Jogs onto the stage and throws off his pink training suit (unless the player chose to wear it at the character select screen, in which case Mac simply does the throwing motion without removing the suit).
LucarioEdit
- Teleports on stage, floats for a second, gathers aura in its hands then lands.
LucasEdit
- Rides in on a Mr. Saturn-style coffee table, then hops off.
LucinaEdit
- Warps while masked onto the stage using warp magic with a twirl, removes her mask, and unsheathes her sword.
LuigiEdit
- Jumps out of a Warp Pipe with hands on face uneasily saying, "Let's-a go." It now makes a variation of the Warp Pipe noise from Super Mario Bros. (being previously used for his brother's up taunt in Brawl and Smash 4) in the process, akin to its appearance in Smash 64.
MarioEdit
- Jumps out of a Warp Pipe punching his right fist in the air while shouting "Let's-a go!". Like Luigi, it now makes a variation of the Warp Pipe noise from Super Mario Bros., akin to its appearance in Smash 64.
MarthEdit
- Warps onto the stage using warp magic with a twirl and unsheathes his sword.
Mega ManEdit
- Warps into the stage, resembling the way Mega Man warps in when he starts a stage in the Mega Man games.
Meta KnightEdit
- Teleports in, wrapped in his cape, similar to Dimensional Cape and his up taunt.
MewtwoEdit
- Teleports onto the stage using dark energy.
Mii BrawlerEdit
- Lands with an explosion then performs attacks towards the screen.
Mii GunnerEdit
- Emerges with lighting and sparks flying around, then points their arm cannon towards the screen.
Mii SwordfighterEdit
- Appears from a whirlwind, then unsheathes their sword.
Min MinEdit
- Jumps onto the stage while spinning around like a corkscrew, performing a landing pose and then another pose afterwards.
Mr. Game & WatchEdit
- Moves along a row of faded Game & Watch LCD frames until he reaches the foreground. The color of the frames match the alternate costume.
MythraEdit
- Rex appears from the sky and tosses Mythra's Aegis Sword at her as she teleports onto the stage. She will hold out her hand or her Aegis Sword depending on if she is facing right or left respectively.
NessEdit
- Arrives having used Teleport, then shakes off the soot he gathered after crashing.
OlimarEdit
- Exits the Hocotate Ship and plucks three Pikmin from the ground.
Pac-ManEdit
- Starts out as the classic Pac-Man sprite, makes a slow chomp, and then jumps out of it into his normal form.
PalutenaEdit
- Walks out from a set of golden doors with a heavenly glow surrounding her.
PeachEdit
- Appears spinning out of a shower of hearts, says "Hi!" to the player and waves at the screen.
PichuEdit
- Emerges from a Poké Ball and punches both fists in the air with joy while saying its name before landing (the same voice clip used for its side taunt).

- Appears on screen surrounded by light.

- Swoops down at an angle, before landing and letting out a roar.

- Stands from a crouching position as his stealth camouflage malfunctions, saying "Kept you waiting, huh?" Based on the beginning of the Tanker chapter in Metal Gear Solid 2.
SonicEdit
- Jumps onto the stage (in ball form) from the foreground and gives a thumbs-up.
SoraEdit
- Flies in from the background, lands, and happily does a short hop while hoisting the Keyblade in the air before assuming his battle stance.
SteveEdit
- Mines stone blocks with a pickaxe, then walks onto the stage. The unmined stone blocks disappear, and a crafting table immediately appears afterwards. The crafting table will spawn in midair, dropping to the ground before "Go!" appears.
TerryEdit
- Jumps onto the stage from the background and adjusts his hat, similarly to the lane switching mechanic of the Fatal Fury games.
Toon LinkEdit
- Appears in a cel-shaded, The Wind Waker-style explosion, then equips his sword and shield.
VillagerEdit
- Exits out of a house and cheers to the camera.
WarioEdit
- Rides in from the foreground on his bike while laughing, then falls off. The bike then explodes and Wario dusts himself off.
Wii Fit TrainerEdit
- Steps off of the living Wii Balance Board seen in the Wii Fit series, who then jumps behind the stage waving goodbye and disappears.
WolfEdit
- Ejects from a Wolfen.
YoshiEdit
- Breaks out of a Yoshi Egg and strikes a pose while shaking his tail. The color of the Yoshi will determine the color of the spots on the egg. Based on Yoshi hatching from a Yoshi Egg in Super Mario World.
Young LinkEdit
- Descends from a column of light and unsheathes the Kokiri Sword. This is akin to his older self's on-screen appearance in Smash 64. Based on the end-of-dungeon teleports from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
ZeldaEdit
- Teleports in with magic in her hands.
Zero Suit SamusEdit
- Jumps out of her Gunship and lands with her jet boots.
