Forum:Character Classification System

Forums: Index Proposals Character Classification System

Diferent Characters have diferent ways to use, there are some easy and others that need techinque, and others that are unique, so i propose to classify characters of each generation depending on their game styles as following:

- Standard: Characters with common abilities and easy to use such as Mario

- Power: Obviously like Bowser and Donkey Kong

- Speed: Fast hitters but not very strong like Pikachu and Sonic

- Technique: Characters with complex abilities and gimmicky drawbacks that are hard to master like Ness and Robin

- Unique: characters that are far too diferent from others due having something that others characters lack, and being too tricky, like Little Mac and his strong ground game with poor air game and his always-on-screen Power Meter, or lethal joke characters like Jigglypuff that are neither strong or fast and very light.

I took this idea from Pokken Tournament were it clearly states each fighter game style, however Unique is made up because this is Smash, i was also thinking in a character handling score to classify how hard is to control a character but that would be too much for now. --WikiAldo (talk) 20:41, 11 October 2016 (EDT)

Considering Smash is not Pokken and doesn't use these archetypes in the games, using them for a Super Smash Bros. wiki would not work. If they were official archetypes defined in the Smash games somewhere, that'd be a different story. It is true we do tend to use unofficial lingo on the wiki, but typically that has to be something that's near-universally agreed upon in the Smash community, specifically the competitive community. These archetypes, as far as I know, are not used to classify the characters at all in the competitive scene. Disaster Flare DisasterFlareHalloweenSigImage.png (talk) 21:04, 11 October 2016 (EDT)
Yea, I'm with Disaster Flare here, we'd only use this if it was official. Things like this have generally not worked out in the past. AidanzapunkSig1.pngAidan, the Spooky Dragon WarriorAidanzapunkSig2.png 21:13, 11 October 2016 (EDT)
Well we kinda do already use something like this, but they are all generalizations, like saying that Bowser is in the slow, heavy, powerful archetype. Making an entire page on this though would not work. Serpent SKSigHalloween.png King 21:24, 11 October 2016 (EDT)
