Why is ANYONE? You should know the SSE is not canon. And you forgot to sign your post. - Gargomon251 20:32, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

He isn't part of the army...Nintendofan146 22:27, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

No he's not. I read somewhere that the main reason he attacked fox and diddy was because they were in his territory, not because tabuu made him do so. But seeing as tho he would end up being in a catorgory by himself if he were removed from the accomplices of Subspace Army, he might as well be listed with them anyway. Carbonkirby 02:50, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

woah

hold on a pokemon cant be evil mabe he was just a bunch of shadow bugs? hey a pokemon cant be evil so why is rayquaza part of the army? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.241.247.30 (talkcontribs) 16:48, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

He isn't. He just decided that foxes ship got a LITTLE too close to his lake. [Despite the fact he should never be in one..] Being a Poke-fan I know that Rayquaza is territorial. Nikacho (talk) 17:35, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Hyper Beam

O.K. I'm confused, I thought he was using Hyper Beam, not Dragon Pulse. Excuse Me if I'm wrong and I'm sorry to bother everyone but I just want to get it clear, 'cause I don't know what it really is. Because Rayaquaza's main move is Hyper Beam, as Groudon is Eruption and Kyrogre is Water Spout, and in Destiny Deoxys He mainy uses Hyper Beam. Super Smash Fan (talk) 23:15, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

When does Rayquaza ever use any attack like this in Brawl? I have no idea what you're talking about. - Gargomon251 (talk) 01:21, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
There are no "beam" attacks performed by Rayquaza in Brawl. Dragon Pulse is a beam. Hyper Beam is a beam. Rayquaza shoots out round orbs of energy. The only think it can learn that comes close is Energy Ball, despite the slight special effect differences. - Gargomon251 (talk) 06:54, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

Subspace Army

LOOK Rayquaza isnt part of the army he is a pokemon and a pokemon can not be evil he might had thought Diddy and fox where members of the group of villans and he was trying to defend congo bongo (Thats the name of DK's home right?) from the subspace army or it could have been a false subspace clone.-207.241.247.30 16:41, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

WHERE ON EARTH DID THAT COME FROM? And most of what you just said is speculation and thinking too much into something that has been discussed. Subspace clones have a purple aura around them and if something crashes in the land you live in your might shoot at it because you can. And wouldn't you think if he was trying to defend Dk's home he would have showed up before Fox crashed next to his lake. Think things thru before you post. Carbonkirby (talk) 21:04, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
In Destiny Deoxys, its main motivation for attacking Deoxys was that the DNA Pokemon intruded on its territory. Perhaps it had similar reasons when attacking Fox and Diddy. -- 67.184.171.30 02:03, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Water?

Why was he in the water? He lives in the ozone.12.74.205.99 19:42, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Resistance???

How can anyone tell Ray has resistance to elemental attacks? I'd like some proof of this. It doesn't make any sense. - Gargomon251 (talk) 19:44, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

I used Pikachu to capture it yesterday, and as far as I can tell, electric attacks do the regular amount of damage to it. -- Umbee (talk) 19:09, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

Energy Ball/ Iron Tail

2 of rayquaza's attacks have names that confuse me: The attacks labeled Energy Ball and Iron tail. the Energy Ball attack doesn't look a lot like hyper beam, i will grant that, but it still doesn't quite seem to fit the Energy ball description. The Iron Tail attack just baffles me; how can it be Iron Tail when there's no IRON???? another thing: do all of his attacks have to be taken DIRECTLY from the game? It wouldn't bethe only attack used by pokémon here that doesn't come from a game.

I agree with Iron Tail, since it digs in the ground even though it can't even learn Dig, and that "attack" when it changes sides of the screen isn't really a pokemon attack. But Energy Ball is the closest possible attack that could be, and I don't think it would make any sense to have a projectile that isn't a pokemon attack. Either way, it's DEFINITELY not Dragon Pulse.- Gargomon251 (talk) 19:41, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
In addition, the official site says "If you rely on midair attacks, at the very least you won’t have to worry about getting knocked off your feet by Rayquaza’s Iron Tail or getting hit by its charge.". - Gargomon251 (talk) 03:47, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

Why? It looks like it.68.54.128.176 23:35, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

No it doesn't. Dragon Pulse is like a breath attack, not a solid ball of energy. - Gargomon251 (talk) 21:32, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

In the anime, Dragon Pulse is a ball of energy. Different pokemon use different attacks in different ways. Blue Ninjakoopa Happy Holidays 21:40, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
The anime is not exactly the best at portraying the game accurately... - Gargomon251 (talk) 08:24, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
In addition, even the ANIME version of Energy Ball looks more like it than Dragon Pulse. http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Energy_Ball - Gargomon251 (talk) 08:32, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
The pokemon handheld game is inaccurate as well. Where do you think they got Rayquaza's voice from? I'm not a fantard for the anime, but I have seen alot of the battles and I've noticed how each pokeyman uses them. Blue Ninjakoopa Happy Holidays 11:36, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
"You can use a reflector or similar special move to bounce Rayquaza’s energy balls back at it." That is a direct quote from the Dojo. They never call it Dragon Pulse. And Dragon Pulse only looks like that in ONE source. - Gargomon251 (talk) 03:45, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
On Pokemon Battle Revolution on Wii, Dragon Pulse is a blue ball of energy, rather like Rayquaza's Smash Bros. Attack. -- JacktonTALK 12:20, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
I have the game. It barely looks anything like Rayquaza's attack. And the flavor text describes it as a "shockwave". Now do an Energy Ball in the same game. It looks much more like that than DP ever could. - Gargomon251 (talk) 03:39, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

Reasoning (With request to protect the page)

First of all, Gargomon, Energy Ball is a grass type move. Plants don't conduct electricity, and energy ball is energy from nature (as in the grassy area). Being that the pulse blast Rayquaza frequently uses shocks a character upon impact, it is indeed Dragon Pulse. Dragon type moves can have many properties (prominently fire), and electricity is one of them. Take Dragon Rage for example. The user releases a SHOCK WAVE to deal 40 damage. Secondly, when Rayquaza flies in a circle ABOVE his enemy, he uses Thunder. Thunder comes from ABOVE when used. Thunderbolt is a direct attack, and you should know this for obvious reasons. And final, Rayquaza does not use Iron Tail. Iron Tail (hence the freakin' name) makes a Pokemon's tail glow white, or turn into metal, then attacks. What Rayquaza did was a simple Slam attack. Don't give me that "OH IM A N3RD SO I KNO HE DONT L3RN DAT" comment, because then you'll need to explain where the **** Puff up and Aura Storm came from. So to end this, I now ask any admin reading this message to protect this page so Gargomon doesn't mess it up with his inferences anymore. Blue NinjakoopaTalk 21:56, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Honestly, I'd prefer a nondescript "an energy/lightning ball" as opposed to the specific "Energy Ball/Dragon Pulse". You admit yourself that SSB is non-canon to the pokemon series- we cannot simply assume that Rayquaza is using one move or another. Until explicit proof is provided (eg., a developer saying "Rayquaza uses <x>"), I believe we should not explicity say that the ball is one move or the other. --Shadowcrest 22:01, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
That sounds like a good plan. I was going to say it was a shock wave attack, but now I understand that Sakurai alters pokemon in SSB games a lot. Blue NinjakoopaTalk 22:04, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

I already have the reference, and in fact even the Japanese calls it an "energy ball". "Electrical properties" don't have any relevance, since Dragon Pulse is not electrical either, it's Dragon. In addition, in the anime, it DOES look the same. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8SAV7glPV4 . I know the anime isn't quite canon, but when you compare all the versions of Dragon Pulse with Energy Ball, it's clearly the latter. Secondly, how can that move be Thunder? It looks nothing like Pikachu's Thunder. If anything, it's probably Shock Wave. And the move IS IRON TAIL. And I quote: If you rely on midair attacks, at the very least you won’t have to worry about getting knocked off your feet by Rayquaza’s Iron Tail or getting hit by its charge." In addition, Puff Up and Aura Storm aren't even canon attacks. Slam is. So it makes even LESS sense to learn an unlearnable move than it does to just make one up. I would be perfectly please to call it "an energy attack". It's better than using a random name that doesn't fit. HOWEVER Iron Tail shall not be changed. The site calls it iron tail, and iron tail makes sense too. I'd really prefer the other move not be Thunder, though at least that seems to have a plausibility. - Gargomon251 (talk) 07:24, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
