Any luck on finding those hitbox gifs? CpnFlacon (talk) 13:22, 1 February 2017 (EST)

Not yet. I know a guy that might know where they are, but I haven't had a good opportunity to talk with him about it yet. Disaster Flare   (talk) 13:29, 1 February 2017 (EST)
Gotcha. Please keep me informed. CpnFlacon (talk) 22:47, 1 February 2017 (EST)

?

I'm having some difficulty with my account. I'm getting this message "There seems to be a problem with your login session; this action has been canceled as a precaution against session hijacking. Go back to the previous page, reload that page and then try again." ... On some pages, I'm logged in, on others, I'm not. I'll be logged in, and then when I go in to edit a result in, it says I'm not logged in. I'm not really sure what to do. Any idea why this may be happening? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Piledrivaaa (talkcontribs) 18:53, 6 February 2017‎ (EST)

Assuming you're using Google Chrome, the blame mostly lies with Google themselves, since they've started preventing people from logging into sites that don't have an HTTPS connection. Until Porplemontage upgrades the connection, the only way around this is to use a different browser. Disaster Flare   (talk) 13:56, 6 February 2017 (EST)
Yeah, I'm using Chrome. Alright, thank you. Sorry for not signing my post, by the way. I came back to edit it and then it said I wasn't logged in again so I just didn't touch it because I don't want my IP address displayed publicly.Piledrivaaa (talk) 14:20, 6 February 2017 (EST)
I had this problem yesterday, but now I use Microsoft EDGE, cause that was the only other browser I have right now. It's laggy as hell though. Kirby's Crazy Appetite ~   15:00, 6 February 2017 (EST)
For what it's worth, I'm having zero issues in Firefox. Miles (talk) 15:38, 6 February 2017 (EST)

Here goes

Here goes nothing. Okay so a while back I used an account called Yo Dawg to keep saying that Corrin was female after the user FlamesofRevolution said that he thought it might be a good idea to change it. After being (rightfully) blocked multiple times by you are Serpent King he apparently then blocked user FlamesofRevolution, as it appeared as though he did it. I recently noticed this while trying to find my account in the block log, and i noticed he was blocked indefinitely. I felt bad for him so I tried to tell Serpent King what happened on his talk page, but but he never responded (even though he had been active once or twice after I made the post. I would assume he did not believe that I was not FlamesofRevolution. But I can prove that I am not him, as if I was, why would I create another account just to use it to get my other one back, when I could just use the one I created. FlamesofRevolution is innocent, and I really hope this matter can be resolved. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mincecraft (talkcontribs) 21:11, 8 February 2017‎ (EDT)

Firstly, make sure to sign your comments (you can see how right above the edit box). Second, new talk page threads go at the bottom, not the top. Third, you must've missed it, but Serpent had already unblocked FlamesofRevolution after reading your message, so he did acknowledge it. As far as I'm aware, the matter is resolved for the most part. :P Disaster Flare   (talk) 16:15, 8 February 2017 (EST)

Basic help for a newcomer

Hey, Flare. Forgive me, as I am completely new to this, but I don't have permission to create my user page, HookshotHotshot. I am signed in to that account, and I've been playing around with it for a while with no luck. I've checked the help desk as well, and couldn't find that topic. Why can't I create/edit my own user page? Is this normal?

Sorry for not understanding...

HookshotHotshot (talk) 13:14, 23 February 2017 (EST)

I may not be Flare, but I do know the answer to your question. You have to be autoconfirmed in order to do that stuff, so just wait a while and you'll be good.  Aidan, the Lovely Dragon Warrior  13:17, 23 February 2017 (EST)

Thanks! I really appreciate it. (PS, I don't know how to indent my responses...)

HookshotHotshot (talk) 13:19, 23 February 2017 (EST)

You use a colon. Let me know if you have any more questions!  Aidan, the Wandering Dragon Warrior  16:46, 23 February 2017 (EST)
Okay, will do.

In Regards to Chicago Melee PR Undone Edit

I wanted to update the PR to the one that was released about a week ago, but you undid the change and said to not "replace already-existing PRs". You didn't suggest what to do. Should I just have the new info take precedent at the top and still have the old info on the page? Sorry, obviously new to this, and I wanted to run it by you to make sure I do the right thing when I edit it again, thanks in advance. MattPopa (talk) 04:15, 27 February 2017 (EST)

Oh whoops, I guess I'm used to saying it on PR articles that make it clear what should be done. XD Essentially, we want all official PRs listed in order of relevance. What I mean by that is that the newest PR must be above the old PRs, and this trend continues until the PRs stop being released, if they ever do. However, a pretty major cleanup also needs to happen on the article, since it does not follow the standards of other PR articles, but I wouldn't worry about doing that too much since you're a new user and those templates can be pretty complicated to work with at first. Disaster Flare   (talk) 12:10, 27 February 2017 (EST)
Alright, I've updated the Chicago Melee PR article to fit what seems to be the standard for PR pages. If you could, please let me know if the changes I made are alright; I've tried to learn a bit more on how the wiki works and I'm also gonna try and contact the previous PR creator to see if I can get the old PRs on the page as well. Once again, thanks in advance for your help. MattPopa (talk) 03:48, 1 March 2017 (EST)
Wow, color me impressed. You got it exactly how it needed to be. You have my thanks for cleaning that mess up. If you do manage to get the previous PRs, that would be greatly appreciated. :D Disaster Flare   (talk) 13:18, 1 March 2017 (EST)

Seeking Advice

Hi, I'm a pretty new editor here. I've been updating the page for PM Snake and part of that effort is to create smasher pages that don't exist yet so that the notable players section doesn't have dead links. I'm starting with my own page since I'm still learning how to edit wiki pages and such. I made a very small starting page, saved changes, looked at another smasher article to examine its structure, then came back to find the page was deleted because I had put in "zero effort."

What would you recommend I do differently the second time around? FlashingFire (talk) 23:38, 13 March 2017 (EDT)

In hindsight, there might've been enough information to keep the page, so I do apologize for that and I will restore the page, but for future reference, the biggest thing we're looking for are tournament results and, if you host tournaments, tournaments you've hosted. Events commentated if they exist are also wanted as well, though you're not required to be a commentator to have a page. Based on the information I did read on your article, it heavily implied that you do have tournament results, so if you can supply those, that would be greatly appreciated. That way, we're not forcing anyone else to do it when they have other things they're working on. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask! Disaster Flare   (talk) 23:45, 13 March 2017 (EDT)
Ok cool. Turns out the structure I was looking for was the structure for tournament results tables, so I'll be adding those right away. Are there guidelines on what kinds of tournaments should be considered relevant or not? Another question, while I'm here: how do I upload images to the wiki? FlashingFire (talk) 23:53, 13 March 2017 (EDT)
(edit conflict) Smasher pages generally require 3 things
  1. A decent amount of opening and general information text (regarding mains, notable skills, feats, location, PRs, etc)
  2. An infobox filled out with as much information as possible
    Exceptions:
    • We do not allow nnid or 3DS code on Smasher articles.
    • Real name, birthday, and specific location (we do want a general location (e.g. Texas instead of Austin, Texas is allowed) can be omitted if the smasher in question wishes
  3. Notable tournament results
Hope this helps. Serpent   King 23:55, 13 March 2017 (EDT)
As for guidelines on relevant tournaments, per SW:SMASHER, "All verifiable tournament results should be added." As for images, you can upload them through Special:Upload, but if I recall correctly, you have to be autoconfirmed, so you may not have access to it right away. Disaster Flare   (talk) 23:57, 13 March 2017 (EDT)
Flare you may want to change your sig back. Also if you need to upload, you can send that over to one of us on the discord server and we'll do it. Serpent   King 23:59, 13 March 2017 (EDT)
Thanks for the help. Hopefully the smasher page is more in line with wiki standards now; I'm still working on writing a relatively unbiased description. FlashingFire (talk) 00:34, 14 March 2017 (EDT)

Can you please rename this image for me?

It wouldn't let me upload with the name I wanted, Dr. Stupid. Unowninator (talk) 00:47, 1 April 2017 (EDT)

Licenses for pictures

Hello. I've noticed that for some of my uploads on player profiles you've changed the copyright status from owned by some organization to "This photograph or animated image is not eligible for copyright, and so is public domain." Shouldn't this be like how it was before? I took these pictures from streams. Some organizations, like Most Valuable Gaming (from which I took a screenshot of), have legally threatened Youtubers in the past for using screenshots or footage despite said Youtubers using their property fairly. That's why I set the licenses to owned by the respective organization, so the organization is less likely to threaten us. —S+ Tier (List) |   19:59, 3 April 2017 (EDT)

Is that why they're set that way? I always considered it preposterous because they should have no legitimate copyright status on them. They're just pictures, and they don't have legal rights to said pictures. Honestly, if I know anything about the law, they shouldn't be threatening legal action against people using them to begin with. However, I can't change what they do, so you can go ahead and change them back if you're that concerned about it. Disaster Flare   (talk) 21:31, 3 April 2017 (EDT)
I completely agree with you. It's just that I didn't want this Wiki to get sued over just pictures. I'll just leave them how you changed them; we're using these screenshots fairly. —S+ Tier (List) |   03:08, 4 April 2017 (EDT)
So from now on should these screenshots be set to being ineligible for copyright? —S+ Tier (List) |   04:03, 4 April 2017 (EDT)
Nah, considering how prevalent this seems to be, it might be in our best interest to keep the copyrights just to be on the safe side. Better to give credit and never get hit than to never give credit and end up regretting it later. Disaster Flare   (talk) 13:07, 4 April 2017 (EDT)

Ike

Alright this is something I have been meaning to call you out on for a while now. You just blocked 124.98.32.131 for edit warring/inaccurate information right? The only warning you gave at all was in the edit summary, which is not the ideal place for that. Use talk pages. The user gets a notification and it also serves as a more permanent reminder. Now I am going to assume good faith that they did not see the edit summary warning (unless they were actually on line when you reverted, or went into history, they wouldn't have) and lift the block. Serpent   King 00:39, 6 April 2017 (EDT)

Fair enough. I'll unblock and then leave a talk page post. Disaster Flare   (talk) 00:42, 6 April 2017 (EDT)

Sirbeebee

@ Disaster Flare. Sorry for not listening. I wasnt sure if the messages were automated as I am new to editing on the website. I'll make sure to follow your advice in the future. If you could allow me to make revisions to my page based on future results, I would appreciate that. This is a good area for me to archive them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sirbeebe (talkcontribs) 00:20, 12 April 2017‎ (EST)

It's cool. For the record, there's only one bot actively being used on the wiki, but the bot isn't used for edits like that. I'll remove the protection now. :P One last thing, though, please remember to sign your posts when messaging on talk pages. You can see how right above the edit box when editing a talk page. Disaster Flare   (talk) 20:45, 11 April 2017 (EDT)

Hi, Flare

Hi Disaster Flare, I'm Rimigafob. I recently created my user page and I'm visiting people to ask them If they would come. Its not very big yet, but I have included my mains and some of my favorite jokes. Will you please visit my page? -Rimigafob Rimigafob (talk) 17:54, 12 April 2017 (EDT)

LCS

I saw the incident that went on with him on your user page. But if he's been vandalising with his IP, does that mean we can call it sockpuppeting?

While I think of it, someone was recently fiddling with my talk page, but it wasn't me. It was probably good faith, but I thought I should let you know. Black Vulpine (talk) 22:31, 27 April 2017 (EDT)

That as far as I can tell was in good faith. As for the other matter, yes, if you have an account but you use your IP instead, in most cases we do consider that a case of sockpuppetry. However, we can't infinite block IPs, so there are some exceptions to this matter. I myself am not too sure of all the details, since I don't see many cases like that. Disaster Flare   (talk) 22:33, 27 April 2017 (EDT)

Samus and IcyMist

Hey, I wanna bring up attention to this matter which has been annoying me, a lot of users and probably you as well for quite some time. Some random IPs (which I'm pretty sure are the same person/people since they always edit the same way) are constantly edit warring to remove the fact that IcyMist is currently the best Samus in the world, as shown by results and wins, and is pretty much the consensus right now. The pages have been protected I think twice already but they keep coming back inputting the same false information. I've tried opening a discussion on IcyMist's talk page as well as the IP's but they never answer, forcing an edit war. How can we prevent this from continuing? Dimo (talk) 08:08, 27 May 2017 (EDT)

Thanks! You made the right decision. Dimo (talk) 07:43, 29 May 2017 (EDT)

?

I already do more than I'd like/want to do on this website. I can't do everything. The website deserves the criticism. There's a reason no one takes it seriously and thinks it's a joke. Tons of out dated information/pages, not to mention straight up false information. Tons of missing tournament results on notable player's pages. Based on what you said, your response to this would probably be "well, if you have a problem with it, update the information yourself"... which is a complete joke. I'm just saying, it's ridiculous, and people need to step it up.
