Unused Things in the coding of 3DS version

The guy who discovered Volcanion's coding in X and Y discovered a few unused Smash Run enemies and some unused features. Among them include:

Smash Run Enemies: Nabbit and Ridley

And among that, they found unused files for stages (possible DLC stages), and there are unused files for Players, 5, 6, 7, and 8. Should this source be trusted or should we hold off until we get further confirmation? Bulbaboy (talk) 16:17, 10 October 2014 (EDT)

Can you link to this source? Toomai Glittershine   The Multifaceted 16:18, 10 October 2014 (EDT)
http://pastebin.com/u/Kaphotics You'll find everything here, along with their discovery of Volcanion. Bulbaboy (talk) 16:20, 10 October 2014 (EDT)
Yes I've seen that. I'm not sure if the text globs are admissable as proof for "unused enemies/stages" at this point though. The 8-player stuff I know has images and could potentially be added. Toomai Glittershine   The Brass 16:24, 10 October 2014 (EDT)
Alright. Thanks for the info. Bulbaboy (talk) 16:26, 10 October 2014 (EDT)
Nabbit and Ridley are most likely leftovers from the Wii U version, as no other Smash Run enemies are actual characters. Laikue (talk|contribs) 18:43, 10 October 2014 (EDT)

More Beta Elements

This article showed a lot more unused things. Should we cover them? I'm not quite used to this wiki, just needed to make sure this can be covered. --EpiNa8 00:41, 3 November 2014 (EST)

Some of them might have potential to be on the page, but I'm not sure. We should probably wait until we have clearance from the higher-ups just in case. Bulbaboy (talk) 19:07, 4 November 2014 (EST)
TCRF is not exactly an official source, but with beta elements in games, the only sources are the games themselves. TCRF is a wiki, like us, that take info from the games and puts it on their wiki. I'd say we can use them, but note that while I'm a "higher-up" user, as you describe it, you shouldn't start adding it until we get more confirmation from other users. Question! I know that these characters are playable (Dark Pit, Lucina, Dr. Mario), but do you think it is or is not necessary to say that these three were planned as alternate costumes?Hylia's Eye (talk) 19:11, 20 February 2015 (EST)
Make a new section next time (there's a tab for it at the top of the page. Also, sign your talk page posts with four tildes (~~~~). As for your question, yes, they should be mentioned in the page. I'll go work on that now. Laikue (talk | contribs) 14:06, 19 February 2015 (EST)

Beta Elements discover

I found more Beta Elements, the link is https://tcrf.net/Super_Smash_Bros._for_Wii_U or https://sourcegaming.wordpress.com/2015/01/26/smash-4-wii-u-data-discoveries/ Jf811 (talk) 22:52, 27 January 2015 (EST)

Ice Climbers Chant

Yeah, for those who keep removing it, can you provide a source for why it's not true? I heard doubt about it, but since Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DSs release five months ago there hasn't been much opposition to it. Laikue (talk | contribs) 11:07, 5 February 2015 (EST)

Although I may not be the one removing it, I would like to see the source that proves it is true.  Aidan the Aura Master 11:42, 5 February 2015 (EST)
Countering Bulbaboy respectfully, I found a YouTube clip that has the Ice Climber chant. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXSLNJ696bU Will this do? :) Hylia's Eye (talk) 19:18, 20 February 2015 (EST)
I'd like to weigh in here, I have doubts that it really happened. I remember watching the video that "proved" it, but then I started digging into the crowd chant files for the Japanese version and listened to Villager's chant, and it sounded exactly like the supposed Ice Climber chant. I may be wrong about that, but that's what it sounded like to me. Bulbaboy (talk) 12:53, 5 February 2015 (EST)

BestBuy Pre-Release Roster

Can someone verify if this is legitimate, and if so should this be added? 20:17, 15 February 2015 (EST) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgWyVdputj0

Old and busted. Miles (talk) 20:30, 15 February 2015 (EST)

Rhythm Heaven character? Or just stage?

The page says there is a placeholder for a Rhythm Heaven character's icon. Except I've seen this evidence, and it's actually amongst a bunch of character and stage icons. Maybe it was intended for a character and maybe it wasn't; if we're being Gematsu-agnostic, there's no particular reason AFAIK to assume either (the person who first dug this up assumed character because it was just before Mega Man's icon, but Pac-Man's icon was between stage icons, so I'd call that pretty inconclusive.) --24.17.78.180 07:17, 22 February 2015 (EST)

Pac-Man's Placeholder Victory Theme

Looking at the E3 Roundtable Discussion, I could swear that Pac-Man's final victory theme plays right here. It might just be the loudness of the crowd that's playing over it, but I hear the final one.  Aidan the Aura Master 09:59, 26 February 2015 (EST)

Unused Music

There's a few unused tracks in the game. Are they Beta elements or are we assuming they're for the Miiverse stage? Guybrush20X6 (talk) 08:22, 16 March 2015 (EDT)

We have no way of no way of knowing as of now, as Miiverse has not been released yet. Some can say they will be for it, but we should probably hold off on mentioning anything about them until the stage finally comes out. Bulbaboy (talk) 09:57, 16 March 2015 (EDT)
I say that we mention them, and say something along the lines of "their intended use is unknown, but there is the possibility of the tracks being used on the upcoming Miiverse stage."  Aidan the Aura Master 11:24, 16 March 2015 (EDT)
Yeah, makes sense. Bulbaboy (talk) 14:02, 16 March 2015 (EDT)
If you do include them, be sure to acknowledge the thematic basis for connecting them to the Miiverse stage; namely, their relation either to Miis (Nintendo Land, the songs from 3DS stages based on Mii-related games) or drawing (Mario Paint). That said, there's no particular rush given that this content is more than likely "not used yet" as opposed to "not going to be used". Miles (talk) 14:29, 16 March 2015 (EDT)
No worries; it's most likley that they will be used. The Cutting Room Floor does show the list of songs that are unused, and will be used for Tournament Mode and other various places in the game. Hylia's Eye (talk) 12:51, 28 March 2015 (EDT)

Maybe some organization?

I was just wondering if I could possibly organize the page a bit, specifically the character section. I'm aware that there's not that much info for beta, but all of Brawl's unused elements are organized. Hylia's Eye (talk) 13:00, 28 March 2015 (EDT)

Ryu and Roy Data, mention or no? + Maybe fix characters section

First Question: Well, everyone's been pretty skeptical ever since the hidden data in 1.0.6 was revealed. But, even though we don't know if it will be DLC, since then it has been confirmed by many sources to exist. Heck, even the Rhythm Heaven characters was revealed in the game's file.

Would it be alright to mention all the hidden data from the 3DS revealed thus far?

Second Question: I know I mentioned this earlier, but I guess the Planned Characters section should be a bit organized.

If it's OK, here's my idea:

Planned

  • Characters planned to be in SSB4 (revealed by Sakurai or hidden data in the game's files) go here.
  • This includes the clones who were at one point planned to be alternate costumes of their parent character.

Considered

  • A list of characters who where in consideration for SSB4 (confirmed by Sakurai, such as Chrom or Takamaru) go here.

Happy days, Hylia's Eye (talk) 22:34, 26 April 2015 (EDT) :)

While I do like the organization idea, we should wait a little longer before mentioning Royu on here, as it'd be rather redundant to put it here now only to have to remove it if and when they're confirmed by Nintendo or Sakurai. I'd wait until E3 at least. Bulbaboy (talk) 22:41, 26 April 2015 (EDT)

Found this just now

PushDustIn here

Hey, I'm the guy who runs Source Gaming (sourcegaming.info), and I'm the one responsible for a lot of the content on this page (not trying to toot my own horn, just trying to help you guys with sourcing (pun very intended). In addition to the data-mining that I've done with both the 3DS and Wii U version, I've also organized a team for Smash translations. I feel like its' pretty unethical to edit the Wiki to directly link to content that I've made, so I will let you guys decide if you want to or not. Plus, all the GoNintendo links are dead.

I'm the original translation source for Takamaru being considered (http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/633202-super-smash-bros-for-wii-u/71456706, for proof), http://www.sourcegaming.info/2015/03/22/mewtwo-dlc-takamaru-and-sakurais-nico-nico-appearance/ for the original page. Most sites did not properly source me as I posted the information in the private SmashBoard's leaks group (along with the Data Dump information).

The link that Aidanzapunk posted is actually from SG also. It was translated by MaskedMan (http://www.sourcegaming.info/2015/07/03/cutsmash4/).

For Chrom, here is the full Famitsu column (http://www.sourcegaming.info/2015/06/28/sakurais-famitsu-column-vol-457-abilities-unlike-any-other/).

Chrom had a moveset made for him. (http://www.sourcegaming.info/2015/07/04/chromsmash4/)

For the emblem databases,go here for the full details: http://www.sourcegaming.info/2015/01/26/smash-4-wii-u-data-discoveries/ You will notice that the Brawl emblems also follow the character, then stage references (spaces were added by me). doubutsu (Animal Crossing) could be either in Brawl's section or Smash 4. One possible explanation for pacman being listed with the stages is because Sakurai didn't 100% commit to him right away. He wanted to get approval for his old-school design first. But that's just a theory.

I don't usually hang out on this wiki. Best way to reach me is through email (Just add @gmail to my username), or on SmashBoards (PushDustIn). I'll try to remember to check this discussion page in a couple of days.

I'll be happy to answer any additional questions about things I've found/ translated. --PushDustIn (talk) 06:06, 22 July 2015 (EDT)

Thanks.

While some of your translations are highly valuable, I want to stress that those are what we are interested in sourcing. Articles like this which are centered around guesswork and "connecting dots" are not things we can treat as reliable sources. Miles (talk) 11:37, 11 July 2015 (EDT)

Thanks for your reply Miles. Please note, that I'm not asking you to add my conclusions, but I do believe that the information about Chrom having a moveset is something that should be added to the Wiki. In articles where I 'connect the dots' I make a clear distinction between what is fact and what is my opinion. I believe I've done a far better job of that than most Smash Bros-centered media. If you are still unsatisfied, then I will make a different post containing all the information without speculation.

The Wii U daily links on this page, and the Gematsu page; link to a NeoGaf post written by spinosaurs, which then gives full credit to Source Gaming. I'm sorry for being annoying about this, but I must ask for credit. I'm not asking you to mention us by name (as that would be ridiculous), but I believe that the original source of information is always better than a secondary source. Surely this is not an outlandish request. Furthermore, this page is missing a lot of information. The only reason I haven't is because I believe it's against Wiki protocol to source yourself. At least, on Wikipedia that's a rule. If I have your blessing, I will fix the articles myself. --PushDustIn (talk) 06:06, 22 July 2015 (EDT)

We don't have a policy against linking to one's own work provided that said work is reliable, and you've demonstrated that your group's translations themselves are. The Smash community depends on a level of original research very different from what Wikipedia needs. Miles (talk) 10:53, 22 July 2015 (EDT)

Broken image link

The "beta names" section of this page contains a link to an image that has been deleted. Was the image replaced with one from the final game? If so, perhaps it should be restored for this purpose. Zyrac (talk) 09:23, 16 October 2015 (EDT)

I checked Category:Articles with broken file links, it isn't there. (Just an FYI, If it isn't showing in Category:Articles with broken file links, don't complain about it.)   INoMed (Talk • Contribs) 09:26, 16 October 2015 (EDT)
Anyways, it has been resolved by me.   INoMed (Talk • Contribs) 09:28, 16 October 2015 (EDT)
That image shouldn't have been deleted...  Aidan, Master of Speed and Aura  09:34, 16 October 2015 (EDT)
Exactly.   INoMed (Talk • Contribs) 09:35, 16 October 2015 (EDT)
